Long time since building models because of 1/1 car and house-yard projects. Model room got way out of control (messy) and needs major clean up. Is now 'clean enough' to do some building. Found these two boats to build as 1/72 and complement larger craft. All to be waterline.
Hydroplane was two parts black plastic.
Cabin cruiser also two parts though is akin to Tupperware.
Like to finish these then move on to finishing USS Oregon based gunboat. http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=9987.0 (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=9987.0)

need more small boats >:(

They popped out during room clean up. So drafted them into navy duty.

The cabin cruiser may be difficult to both paint and glue. Do any of the parts have the material type?

To our mutual surprise. Painting does work. Washed cabin cruiser and primed hull. It sticks well. This near 1/72 (HO?) toy can be harbor personnel transport in water area of diorama. Will give it some color vrs mainly navy grays. Use part of red already there.

Wow - what paint did you use? I would have expected a LDPE or PP plastic, which is really tough to paint/glue. It'll look good as a harbor transport.

Testors semi-gloss rattle can primer sticks well. No issues. Probably open (plastic surgery) rear of cabin to be more 1/72 like.
Tried other paints, they also stick. Attached pictures with first try of other paints is general look before open rear of cabin and finishing.

Moving along not to fastly.
At IPMS meeting was given two boxes of built models from an estate. Said cut up, toss, rebuild as you please. One model is Lindberg 1/210 Monitor. Destined to be 58.5 ft. 1/72 gunboat.
Two boats build is now three.
Tupperware two piece 'toy' cabin cruiser (figure 1/100-150) got 1/72ish redo to pass as general duty harbor boat among the gunboats etc... Life rings and deck cleats from Swift Boat. Roof search light from 1/32 M5A1.
Hydro had paint disaster so was soaked in paint thinner for a day. Starting over.
Monitor got hull cut to be waterline model. With help from Evergreen plastic strip measures 45" freeboard. Is okay for styrene navy duties. First try at bridge is HO switch engine cab which is midpoint between cabin cruiser tupperware and styrene we all know. Metal 25mm Bushmaster barrels look to fit as armament. Couple deck and hatch changes are in order.
