Ok, you can quote me now (or Italeri themselves if you prefer) ;).  The kit will be a newly tooled F-35A and will be available in October.

F-35A I believe...but don't quote me on that. ;)
Ha! I'll quote you anyway!  :P  Yup, an A, release date now scheduled for October. The CAD drawings posted on Italeri's Facebook account (LINK) look absolutely gorgeous!  :-*

EDIT:  ;D Posted just minutes apart.

I can't wait to get that kit in the store, that way we'll have another reason for two customers to get into a hand-waving argument! :)

The kit looks really nice.  :) Minor niggle: Too bad they chose not to include the AIM-9X and fitting pylons, though.

That will have to wait for a F-35B or F-35C kit.  The F-35A has an internal gun.  Still, I wonder if, in the interests of "commonality", they included provisions for the gun pod in this version (much as the F-35A has the bay for the probe adn drogue system, even if it's not fitted)?  A "two-gun" F-35A could be quite striking.

This kit has been out for a while so it may not be new for some but at least you get a chance to see the contents inside the box thanks to the efforts of Roland Kunze and modellversium.de.

Italeri 1:48th scale V-22 Osprey (kit number 2622)

For those of you that have the older release of the V-22 Osprey in the Testor's or Italeri box you will notice some differences between this kit and what you have in your stash.

DPMV.de has a thorough look in the box of the 1/72 F-35A. LINK! You may have to click the pics twice to get them at their biggest resolution, though.

Kit looks rather nice!  :)

They aren't so much raised panel lines in the traditional sense but rather attempts to represent the RAM coverings that you can see in some photos (such as below).  Kitty Hawk has done similar on their 1/48 kits.  I am sure that on painted, they will be somewhat less prominent:

Still going to get one though  -- or two ---

And yet there are markings for Belgium, which whilst definitely a future possible operator is not currently part of the F-35 program...so in effect this is a partial whiff in a box ;)

Me suspects someone hasn't done their research at Italeri....
