TF-105T Trainer
« on: June 26, 2019, 10:45:45 AM »
I tried to con Eddie Miller into doing this parallel build awhile back.  It's time I dusted off the workbench and got to it.  So, here's some samples of my progress to date.  I spent WAY too much time hyper-detailing a pair of scratch-built air-brakes (yeah, I know: they are over-greeblied but I like 'em that way).
We begin with the most important aspect of any piloted aircraft: pilots.

Those silly, over-greeblied (TM) scratch-built air-brakes really put the ol' OptiVisor to work:

Air-brake interiors before and after being painted up...sort of.

What did the painted air-brake interiors look like once in situ?

Now, the observant folks will have by now noticed the sliced-up tailfin (as in "what the heck did that crazy Canuck do to the Thud's perfectly good tailfin?").
Which, naturally, meant some changes were in store and some filling was also required.  Same for the stabilators which sat with approximately 8 inches of scale-gap on the model.

Oh, I almost forgot that I did have to put those hot-shot cowboy-pilots in their place, so to speak.

Do the pilots know that the workings of their airbrakes are attached to wood planking? ???

@FAAMAN - Monogram (now Revell) 1:48th scale F-105F/F-105G was the source kit.

That's some top-shelf modeling there!

The F-105 is so ripe for the treatment! I'm going to enjoy seeing this one come together.
