Title: ChernayaAkula's profile thread - UPD: 15/05/2018: Restored pics!
Post by: ChernayaAkula on February 06, 2012, 10:05:10 AM
Finally, my profile thread! I've got a folder full of stuff, but wanted to start with something fresh. I'm gonna dump the remainder of my profiles here over the next days.
(http://freesmileyface.net/smiley/flags/italian-flag-54.gif) (http://freesmileyface.net/free-flags-smileys.html) Italian Eagles! (http://freesmileyface.net/smiley/flags/italian-flag-54.gif) (http://freesmileyface.net/free-flags-smileys.html)

What if... the Italians never bought the F-104? Say, maybe they bought surplus F-100s in the 1960s and decided in the late 1970s that a replacement for the Huns was needed. Like the UK and Germany ((http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m309/ChernayaAkula/Emoticons/coolio.gif)), they went for the F-15. Go big or go bust!
First of, an operational F-15, equipped with an Orpheus recon pod:

I'm a sucker for special liveries and the Italians have painted their planes in some of the greatest schemes, so here are a couple schemes usually associated with F-104s. I think they look great on an Eagle, too!

A newer one, not carried on an F-104. This one was carried on an F-16. Diana, one of the most gorgeous girls ever to grace an aircraft!

Since it wasn't carried by an F-104, I thought what if....

(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/830/41395633824_0d1717e9a3_o.png) (https://flic.kr/p/264ZrJy)F104-ultima (https://flic.kr/p/264ZrJy) by Motschke (https://www.flickr.com/photos/151156765@N03/), on Flickr

Diana is mostly the same, just a little more "leggy" (and who could find fault in that?).

This is just the first round of Aeronautica Militare Eagles. A couple more (including some Es - no, the Tornado didn't happen either  >:D) to follow soon......

Hey Moritz, I don't want to veer off this thread (more Italian Eagles, please!!!), but do you happen to have a A-4 blank and do that last F-15/F-104 scheme on it?

Thanks, guys! Glad you like 'em!  :)
Drew up lots of weapons yesterday. Some obvious ones, some less obvious.... Stay tuned!

@Scooterman: I think I have a blank somewhere. May take a while to get round to it, though. Lotsa Eagles to do first. Italian Skyhawks would be rather neat, though. Not just air force ones (instead of G.91s and F-104s in fighter-bomber roles). Marina Militare?

Can't get round to profiling new stuff, so here's a load of the older stuff (which many of you may have seen before).

This one started it all. Triggered by a comment over on ARC, where someone said it was about time for an A-10 in the colours of B-25 Mitchells. I thought that was a good idea.

(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/911/40287195280_266cc644da_o.png) (https://flic.kr/p/24o3pzb)A-10-WWII-DirtyDora (https://flic.kr/p/24o3pzb) by Motschke (https://www.flickr.com/photos/151156765@N03/), on Flickr

The next one was for a One Week GB. Needless to say, the model never got finished. Do intend to get back to it one day.
My second profile, it was still rather crude. A "dirty" line-art of a Rafale B modded to a kinda-M (still don't like the canopy shape) and a copy-pasted Felix on the tail.

(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/953/42094198761_61c1f24ef6_o.png) (https://flic.kr/p/278HLKB)RafaleM_VFA-31 (https://flic.kr/p/278HLKB) by Motschke (https://www.flickr.com/photos/151156765@N03/), on Flickr

Next up (around a year later) is an Israeli F-111. Thought that given its long legs, it might be useful for strategic missions.

(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/970/28242797318_0121180805_o.png) (https://flic.kr/p/K2HHFm)IDF-F-111C-PNG (https://flic.kr/p/K2HHFm) by Motschke (https://www.flickr.com/photos/151156765@N03/), on Flickr

Since then, it's mostly been F-15 Eagle profiles for me.
Starting with a couple of SEA-camoed Eagles for use over Vietnam. Either the type was rushed into service or it was developed a little earlier.

(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/953/42069924362_84462f62eb_o.png) (https://flic.kr/p/276zmPu)F-15A-SEA-shark (https://flic.kr/p/276zmPu) by Motschke (https://www.flickr.com/photos/151156765@N03/), on Flickr

And a version without the shark mouth, which I actually like better in this case (I'm usually a sucker for shark mouth schemes).

Bigger teeth!

So much for now!

I love what I've seen, especially that A-10.  Would you happen to have a full three-view of that operational F-15?  I just  happen to have several 1/72 F-15's and a 1/72 Orpheus pod to mount on it.

Post by: ChernayaAkula on February 15, 2012, 02:05:55 PM
Cheers, guys!  ;)

@elmayerle: Sorry, but I don't have a three-view of that. The camo scheme is inspired by the Italian F-104s, but applied so it fits on an F-15. The markings themselves are very much taken 1/1 from Italian Starfighters. I can highly recommend SkyModels' excellent decal sheet for Italian Starfighters (72-062). Anything you'll need can be found on there. That sheet or Italeri's recent re-pop of the Esci Starfighter, which also comes with a rather nice decal sheet.

-------------

More old profiles!

Two SEA wraparound schemes. These two are based in Osan, Korea, but I'll revisit that wrap-around SEA and Euro 1 theme later. I'm on a USAFE kick at the moment. May include Weasels and recon birds.

And some Eagles for the Navy!
I haven't included any mods to make them carrier capable as these are more colour/scheme studies than anything else. I plan to revisit the USN theme as well later.

I'll take your advice about the decal sheets.  The Navy F-15's look great and I'll most definitely keep them in mind for my F-15M (M for Maritime) conversions.

Two fresh ones!  8)
I always liked how the Israelis incorporated their squadron insignia into the camouflage scheme, so I tried to do that with two German Tornadoes. The squadron insignia haven't been altered all that much. I suppose you could alter them (simpler designs, better aligned to the aircraft's lines) for better effect, but I wanted to keep it simple.

Tornado ECR of JaboG 32 in Norm '83 camouflage:

Tornado IDS of MFG 2 in an experimental scheme that wasn't adopted (too bad, as the colours are gorgeous):

SEA-camo'd F-15s.....nice. Now, some F-16s, A-10s, and F-15Es in the same pattern would be good to see. The Turks, btw, still have their F-4s assigned to strike missions in the same scheme even today.

Holy thread revival Batman! It's been FIVE years!  :o Thanks to Photobukkit's shenanigans  ::), I've now put my stuff on Flickr. I promised to put all my profile stuff in this thread five years ago, but... that was then. Hoping to actually follow through with that promise now. And I've used bigger versions of the previous pics.

Allons-y! Speaking of which, here are some French Eagles (Aigles)!

First up are two versions in Mirage F.1 colours.

What if the Shah had decided against the Tomcat and bought Eagles instead?

Eagle in Asia Minor:

Apart from being clad in the cool P-3 camo, this Eagle uses Sea Eagle ASMs for anti-shipping operations. Sea Eagles because the Sea Harriers operated off the Iranian Navy's Invincible-class carriers also use this ASM.

And that's all I've got as far as old Eagle profiles are concerned. Got a couple more new ones in various stages of completion, but haven't worked on them in ages.
I'll try and upload profiles of other stuff once I find the original files.

^ Glad you like 'em!

The following profiles were inspired by an "artist's impression" posted by "ysi-maniac". It shows the Ram-J, the prototype of what was to be the Su-25 Frogfoot. I suppose it might look like a Su-25 when seen through a satelite's "bird's" eye", buit in profile, it looks quite different. I took the profile below, enlarge it and traced it in MS Paint, then erasing the colours. A bit tedious, but worth it.

Didn't like the generic and rather un-Soviet bombs of the artists impression and swapped them for something a little more suitable.

The Jigabachi AV from Ghost in the Shell in various whif guises.

The line art is a traced scan of the instruction sheet in Kotobukiya's 1/72 kit. I tried my hand at Gimp for the slanted roundels.

The experimental camo on this one was inspired by a profile of a Mitsubishi F-2 in desert camo drawn by "Gary_F".
