Title: Future Lightnings and Twin-Mustangs
Post by: Tophe on February 01, 2016, 11:37:20 PM
Lightnings of the 22nd century (after the legend of Jesus Christ).

First for another planet, with mind power (no need of engine). The last one is a push-pull going back and forth at will:

Then for the Earth with atmosphere, using a vacuum engine pulling the aircraft. The last one is a push-pull asymmetric machine.

Thanks, both of you. Do you have other ideas I could illustrate? (I plan to draw wingless Twin-Mustangs but I have not many ideas otherwise).

You could mix and match, the Cloud cars with upper wings. like Macross Fighters
The cockpits on the Wings could be larger or two seater. Maybe like a F-1 Race car, box like cabin, on bottom (or top) and canopy centered (off to one side or even on the side).
Side cockpits. like the Blohm und Voss P.194 or P 168

Glazed nosed fronts on either Wing or Cloud Car.
Reduce the Wing length, Stubbie ones "Because No One can hear glide in Space"
Wings can be Wrap around or box like 'Last StarFighter'
Add some SciFi looking features (antennas, seating for Droids, long boons )
Looks and types could be mission based.

Here are Lightning dérivatives of the Cloud Car and Tie-Fighter.
For the asymmetric ones, I may work on them soon, thanks again!

I am going to stop doing this :-[
[Sorry if I am repeating things.]
Have you even seen the P-38M, Night Fighter two seater with a bubble for the backseat
 (http://olive-drab.com/images/id_fighters_p38_01_700.jpg)

Nosejobs like the Pathfinder that look like someone put a soup can on the cockpit's nose and added windows.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_P-38_Lightning (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_P-38_Lightning)
Quote
A P-38L was modified by Hindustan Aeronautics in India as a fast VIP transport, with a comfortable seat in the nose, leather-lined walls, accommodations for refreshments and a glazed nose to give the passenger a spectacular view.

A different way to carry extra passengers, looks like a Med-vac option:

"Want to go for a Ride?" :-\

Here a different one:

Could also use the P-38 kin - XP-49 and 'Big Brother' XP-58.
If you want to increase the cockpit size, a little. Even up to large flying boat size. For multi deck version.

Sorry I don't understand your words... ???
I am not a Professional designer, just someone having fun, and you are not Masters also if you don't draw/paint yourself. I see no Master, but I see fun, and this is enough and good ;)

A few centuries before, the Twin-Mustangs were powered by rocket "engines" (old way):

On the Earth little planet, the UNO law of April 1st 2099 made illegal the high-altitude airplane polluting the skies, and only WIG aircraft were allowed anymore. One of them was a Lightning of course:

It's not a Lightnings and Twin-Mustangs, but you could use this (or something like it):

to make something like

Looks very nice :)

If possible, bigger like an airliner or cargo plane. A couple of deck thick. Windows and doors, maybe.
The interwar French bombers -- herehttp://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=6126.msg103877#msg103877 (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=6126.msg103877#msg103877) have that look.

Yes, sci-fi includes "past science-fiction", "retro-future", as the Lightning of year 2000, now past but seen as very distant future from 1944 artists (years before the Yak-28 came actually):

Science-Fiction in Moscow 1944: "the so glorious Red Army will not stop in Berlin but go on to Paris, to New York, and with its Tween-Moostangs, will continue to Los Angeles and stop in Hawaii, Pearl Harbour as Final Victory!":

In a more distant future, say "near 1950", the Tween-Moostang-II will be even more performing:

The future Messiah (the true one) being a chicken, there will be a mandatory need to celebrate the Egg instead of the Cross! (no matter aerodynamics):
