IIRC the Sturmovik was harder to kill than a cornered rat.

No, they were shot down by Luftwaffe fighters in large numbers, particularly the single-seaters,
adding the gunner helped, but they were still vulnerable.

Stealthy (?) A-10:

RAM internal coating on the spinners and composite fan blades (possibly with RAM molded into them - NGC has developed interesting technigues for RAM-containing composites) would make a start in helping reduce signature but, really, I don't know of anything that could really "Stealth" an A-10, it's not intended to be with that big gun.

Yes, I quite agree.  Reduced signature, yes; stealthy, no.  You could probably reduce the IR signature by extending the nacelle aft and using a daisy, lobed, nozzle to mix hot and cold exhaust streams.

Dare I say, you might have more luck making this (see below) stealthy... ;)

Stealth and A-10 just don't belong in the same sentence. If your'e a bad guy and there is an A-10 in the area you will know about it soon!

Stealth can also mean low noise. Its hard to hear an A-10 creep up on you, especially if you are on the move in a track with a headset on! Then its BRRRRRT!

Dare I say its even more so with a supersonic fighter where the noise might arrive after the LGB or other munition... ;)

posted once already but my answer to the more stealthy version A-10. Canted fins, single engine...someone needs to chop the nose off an F-35 and add that as well, first person who built it may have to go into witness protection...  ;D

Not an A-10...but a damned close 'clone':

Its the Saab P.1642 which was part of the B3LM program aimed to create a lightweight attacker to supplement the Viggen. Compared to the A-10, it was significantly smaller and lacking a gun, but did share the characteristic twin-tail and widely-spaced engines (which were to be RR RB401 high bypass turbofans). The nose seems to be configured for some kind of sensors, and five underwing hardpoints (one on either side of the main landing gear and one centerline) were planned in addition to wingtip rails for AIM-9s. A radar was not planned to be installed on the design in hopes of keeping costs low.

Hmm... does any manufacturer have the Hog in 1:100? Could be a good scale-o-rama starting point for this in 1:72. :)

Saw a Pucara model the other day.. got me wondering about a 2-seat A-10 with turbo props mounted over the wing & above the existing wheel sponsons,  turbofan delete, and maybe the T-tail.
