Title: RW Tamiya Beaufighter TF.X
Post by: Aeroplanedriver on June 11, 2020, 01:05:03 PM
Another RW build before I embark on a few What Ifs for GBs.

Tamiya's gorgeous Beaufighter TF.X built OOB except for some wine bottle foil to give the seat belt decals some body and some kabuki tape painted red for the cannon trough covers. This was a very enjoyable build and my first attempt at the hairspray method of chipping paint.  Since my reference photos of this particular aircraft showed it pretty dirty I made her look a little war-weary.  The Mossie certainly has her beat in looks and performance, but there is just something about the Beau that I've always loved since I built an Airfix or Matchbox one when I was about 9 I think.

Oh and to add that I loved this kit so much I had another one ordered before the wings were on.  Pretty certain the next one will be USMC Operation Downfall.

It is indeed

Yep. The Mosquito is the looker but Beau just seems more 'muscular'.

There's an app GB for that! "Invasion of Japan/Japan ‘46 GB:  1 Aug - 31 Oct"
USMC Beau is a splendid idea.

Having built a folding wing naval version of the TF.X & having two of its Mk.VI siblings in the stash, I concur that this is an excellent kit to build & that the Beau is a stunning aircraft.

My personal aesthetic puts it ahead of the Mosquito in the looks department (but only just ;)).

Great build, AD! 8)

Still don't know how you do it in such a short time span ... must be better at time management than I am & keep a neater workspace. :-[

Never agreed with this about looks....Beaufighter is soooo  much better looking, but then I've always favoured radials over in-lines. Always think of this guy when the Beau crops up:
