Forget that nonsense, it's the range of Percival Gulls and Proctors I'm excited about!
-
I was just looking at the TP-63E and thinking: what if you removed the front cockpit and smoothed it over and added some additional exhaust stubs so as to give it a second engine? Maybe turn it into a twin engined race plane?

Either need contra-props or a combining gearbox and one big honking prop (six-or seven- bladed one?) and you would definitely need to add more cooling capacity (I'd argue for either an under-fuselage radiator/oil cooler installation (steering clear of the exhaust flow from the existing cooling system) or go with large leading edge radiator and oil cooler installations for both engines that would also replace the existing cooling system. Or go with both (smaller) leading edge and under-fuselage systems and remove the existing cooling system. This last is what I'm considering for a Ki-64-II with a combining gearbox driving one large propeller.
-
A quickie twin-engined racer. Other than substituting another engine for the front cockpit, the nose has been shortened for contraprops and a P-51D belly radiator bath has been added (for the second engine). That radiator bath adds a little side area to help counter the effects of that second set of propeller blades. The fin and rudder have also been enlarged (although this aircraft would need even larger tailplanes ... but you can get away with madness when it's a racer).
Minor stuff was lowering the canopy (to make it more racer-ish), deleting the TP-63E's belly fuel tank, and moving the radio mast aft.
BTW: Another rear-cockpit Kingcobra whif: http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=7275.msg127718#msg127718 (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=7275.msg127718#msg127718)

I found it on my 1/72 kit page. Maybe there is hope for reconciliation between the two scales.

Nope. In fact, you finding it there just shows the popularity with 1/48 making steady inroads into 1/72 territory... ;)

Ditto. However let's hope it's better than their Gee-Bee R, it has some major problems. :icon_sueno:

Hmm, with those other P-63 variants, can we get an XP-63D with a bubble canopy? I keep thinking that could make for a nice blend with an L-39-2.
-
CMR makes a bubble D in 1/72 Evan. But a styrene version would be nice.
I have just made space for several FD.2s.
-
A Wapiti, now that is obscure.

A Wapiti, now that is obscure.
Now we just need an aftermarket canopy and the big jar of yellow paint for the RCAF Wapiti Mk.IIa ;D

I've got a CMR 1/72 Wapiti in the stash, I'd have to find it but I think you can do a RCAF variant

I will likely do so, too. So much whiffing that can be done with that, in addition to what was done (dare I hope for a BAC 221 at a later date??).

Dammit, they used a picture of a Gull Six to illustrate the Vega Gull >:(

One for the 1/72 crowd:

Do you think those are ex-Toko kits Greg ? I've got an 'E' in my stash.
-
Now, if they'll do a 1/72 XP-63D with the bubble canopy and no "car doors". I would love to cross that with a L-39-2 kit for a truly unique look.

Its my understanding that these are completely new kits.

Random idea: RAF PR conversion of P-43, maybe in PR Blue such as below:
One could say that in 1941, the RAF, eager to take any fighters takes on a small batch of P-43s. Deciding they are not suitable as fighters they are converted to recon birds taking advantage of their altitude performance.

I'm happy for the DHC-2 Beaver to come with just wheels, it can sit parked next to my An-2 Colt. (I'm contemplating getting a Beechcraft Staggerwing to go with them, too.)
The Vultee Vanguard is, oddly, a new one for me but I like the look of it & either the Australian Army Air Corps or Royal Australian Marines Air Arm may get one.

So A Hawk 75 mated with a Brewster Buffalo ? ???
Or the BT-13 Valiant trainer's offspring after injesting 'substances banned in sport'?

;D ;D

Some interesting options (Swedish or RAAF) mentioned here: http://adf-serials.com.au/vanguard.htm (http://adf-serials.com.au/vanguard.htm)
-
And for something different, take the floats from the Beaver and add them to the Vanguard... ;)

To replace Army Aviation Gladiators?

Nah, their Avia B-534s. ;)

1/72 FD.2 Box art.
-
Wasn’t someone reportedly doing a 1/48 kit of this a while ago?
-
Would love to see them also do one of the various 2 seat versions:
The thought occurs that dropping the two-seat interior and canopy on a Re2001 or Re2002 could make for an interesting simple wiff.

Not to be a wet blanket, but will any of these see the light of day ?
I'm still waiting for the Westland Wapiti and/or Wallace from, let's see, May 2022 . . .
cheers,
Robin.

Which ones in particular?
Dora Wings, so far, have sometimes taken a bit longer than expected to release a kit (especially in 1/72) but I haven't noticed any that failed to appear.
I currently have these two 1/48 kits in my stash;
(https://www.bnamodelworld.com/image/cache2/1000x1000_contain/catalog/dorawings/DW-48050_3.webp?v=60) (https://www.bnamodelworld.com/image/cache2/550x550_contain/catalog/dorawings/DW-48044_07.webp?v=60)
And nice looking kits, they are!

Dora Wings DW72007 1/72 Westland Wallace and Dora Wings DW72008 1/72 Westland Wapiti.
Added to my Hannants Watching List on 17th May 2022 . . .
cheers,
Robin.

Sorry, I meant the first line.
I'm fairly sure most of the last couple of pages of kits have already been released.

Hmmm...that box art, especially the fuel tank makes me think of the Saab J21:

And thus by extension, a Swedish P-47... ;)
