I have done a few Japanese, and again I would love to do a few more.

In the meantime...

Those J4M1s & K-98s probably get better gas mileage than the Ascender too...

Nice work, Flitzer!

Yes, thanks! The first one was unknown to me, and the J4M1 is beautiful in colours... :-*

You can actually get a model kit of the first one.

A couple of those are available in resin, not sure if still in production, I've built one of the twin boom pushers  :)

Lovely profiles always were an inspiration

I think Igor of Unicraft has done some, and I think they are still available...at the moment at least.

Kikka!

That's always been a favorite of mine. Good work on it, it looks great.

I'm busy with the next set of Luftwaffe projects, but I'm sort of gathering reference bits and pieces for either British, Italian, French or Japanese to do afterwards.

But if I have enough to make a set then yes Japanese it will be.

Best regards

Me too. :)

The last of my Japanese stuff.
Beautiful R2Y2 work.  I'm partial to either wing root intakes or underwing engines.  That nose intake would lead to considerable flow losses and distorted flow; neither of which makes for good engine performance.  I've schemed the concept of a R2Y3 with wing root intakes and a swept wing, much like the Messerschmitt P.1100B.

Not for a fair while, I've got to find out where that drawing went (it was done before I went to Connecticut for 2-1/2 years and everything got "rearranged" by SWMBO while I was gone).

Thoughts for a couple mods on either the wing-root intake or underwing engine variants of the R2Y2 - a radar nose like the S1A1 nightfighter or bombs or drop tanks under pylons on the forward fuselage.  Somewhere I've got concept drawings on both of these.
