Title: Entry 2: Airfix 1/72 de Havilland DH.88 Comet
Post by: KiwiZac on July 13, 2020, 09:31:00 AM
Hi all,
I only learned of Brian's passing last week thanks to the banner for the GB, so I figured I should get something on the bench to honour him and our friendship.

This kit came to me from our own Modelling_Mushi. I had some ideas but without the decals I wanted I decided it would be perfect for a Brian Build.

Building, filling and part creation are well underway...

Looking forward to this one!

Me too! The DH.88 is a personal favorite

Wheel trousers à la the  DH.90 Dragonfly, perhaps? Hint, hint ...  ;D

I always get disproportionately angry when people guess something I thought was a great secret idea of my own design ;)

At least some of the blame must rest with Sir Geoffrey.  As Exhibit 'A', I present the DH.92 Dolphin's undercarriage  ;)

So lovely! He really had a way with design.

Thanks to starting a new job this is my first time at the bench for a while. But rest assured, progress is progressing!

Apparently there's something Not Suitable for General Viewing in the top left corner of this image! :icon_surprised:

Congrats on the new job Zac   And good to see that "progress is progressing"  ;)

Obviously censored in case if revealed his devious plan. I could speculate but I'm not allowed to mention the 'S' word  :icon_surprised:

I'm sorry to say this has languished under the bench since about a week after I last posted for personal reasons and is unlikely to be finished in time. But I hope to finish by his first anniversary.

It is so frakking WONDERFUL to see a workbench covered with paint and goop and stuff.  I am so sick of the spotless workbenches with clean paint jar with no drips lined up neatly and a spotless mat lined up with the workbench edges like the modeler is Rainman or something

Interesting subject to start with.  Look forward to build.

Also -- I have a plenty messy work bench and room.

Agree absolutely, people with clean work benches are clearly not working to a schedule  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Keep up the good work Zac looking forward to what you do with this one

Oh, I don't know.  Maybe some people's Cleanliness OCD is stronger than others... ;)

On a seasonal note:

Baldrick: "A Merry Messy Christmas"? All right, but the main thing is that it should be messy — messy cake; soggy pudding; great big wet kisses under the mistletoe …

… and please let me show you my build from two weeks ago , it’s the rubish old Airfix kit converted to jet engines ( because the little props are a joke ) , was a present for my wife . Cabin hood will follow, look at those amazing pilotfigures made direct into the fuselage .      The famous original plane is also flying on airshows today ,  very British .
