dear ysi_maniac, usually I don't visit naval topics (I like only aircraft) but the current Floaty GB made me come here and see. And what a great surprise! :-* Your mix of ship and tank(s) made me dream of a similar Lightning flying boat! Thanks a lot! And congratulations again for this idea of yours! ;)

Fortunately, I found in my collection a P-38 already with caterpillar landing gear, so it has been easy to draw the one with a flying boat hull you made me dream of. Thanks again!

Do you think tandem wings would improve the weight centering?
And how many thousands would have been ordered by the US Marines in 1943? ;)

EDIT: I continue on my Floaty topic http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=5139.0
Here is special for your own wonderful creations. Thanks again!

That's clearly Stan Mott's work; I'd recognize it anywhere.

Some years ago I got a junk Trumpeter 1/350 Sovremenny soviet destroyer. She had not hull, but the other parts look very nice: superstructure, turrets, missiles ... So I am thinking in buying one of those old Frog/Novo/... 1/415 HMS Tiger to combine pieces. I like result of my study. And you?

Later I would consider a more 'soviet' bow.

Agreed the up gunned County looks very nice.

Been thinking what may look ok and be a bit of a play on actual events, would be a British cruiser front with a pair of Mk26 6", Tiger superstructure, topped off by a Type 984 radar and a Long Beach aft and mid section, including Talos, the nuclear propulsion system and provision for Polaris.  Same concept that saw Dreadnought being built with basically a Skipjack rear and the R class with their US missile sections.

These ships could have started out planned as the UKs nuclear deterrent instead of the Polaris submarines and evolved into flag and fleet air defence ships with the Polaris spaces used for Tartar.  thinking of doing something along this line with a Revell Tiger, Shapeways  backdate conversion and a Dragon Long Beach
