This is a promising sign though:

For those who like 1:35 What If scalemodels and scalemodeling this is one of the places to get them, all our kits and conversions are mostly based upon German Wehrmacht military vehicles, admired by their technik and enginering which brought forth icons like the famous Tiger 1, Panther and King Tiger tanks as well as lots of other vehicles and equipment.
 
Based on the militairy production and planned designs from pre-war and during ww2 till post-war '46 we try our best to create one of a kind What If models to satisfy you with a realistic fiction which could have been made, at the same time we try to keep the audentic look of the orginal as much as possible so it will not loose it's true identity.
 
We do our very best to offer you a quality product and we always try to improve ourselfs, do note that our kits are from resin so they can be fragile, please be carefull with removing the supports and casts film, make sure you have the right tools and gear to work with, some kits are more easy to build then others, some skill is needed in able to get the right end result.

The StuG Sherman looks like a winner.  Maybe a welded hull version later?

The Flak 2x50cm has a certain Star Wars look to it.

Their website seems barely functional. Any thoughts on where to find these conversions? I might be interested in the Sherman if its not too expensive. BTW, it fits Tamiya Sherman Nr. 35322 according to their website.

I wish there was a manufacturer who did more What If US and Commonwealth armor in this vein. The Stug Sherman is a positive step in that direction but there’s so much more untapped possibility.

That seems the simplest and most "field expedient" option. Maybe with a 76mm barrel or even a 90mm. In any case, this conversion shows as "out of stock"

I saw that too. And if I read the price right that equates to $45. Depending on where I could find it I would have to add shipping. A little too much for me. I would just get the Tamils kit and an aftermarket gun barrel.

I agree about the lack of US and Commonwealth What Ifs.

I think the Assault Sherman would be better with a 90mm cannon instead of the 76mm one though. Might as well go with the larger gun in this case.

I appreciate what you are saying but in this case, I think the problem is not really there.  After all, this appears to be a development of the Sd.Kfz. 231/234 family with essentially a Panzer 1 turret fitted and set up to drive backwards so that a rear troop compartment could be added.  If you look at the internals of the broadly similar Sd.Kfz. 232 (which had a bigger turret again):



Remember also that there was the real world Sd.Kfz. 234/2 which had a much larger turret with a 50mm KwK 39 L/60 gun:



Therefore, I think the version shown would have been doable.  Of course, whether it would have been useful is another matter...

As Greg has noted, it isn't that big a problem.   I was actually thinking of adding about 10-15mm to the space between the wheel sets and placing the turret a little further back and extending the troop compartment and roofing it over.

The TNH 57/900 was an effort to make a new light reconnaissance tank, a leftover prototype of the canceled 38(t) n.a ( Neue Art ) from 1942 served as as a technological demonstrator to mount a new 57 mm caliber A 25 cannon mounted with an automatic charging device in a newly designed turret and upper hull, the project was development by the Czechoslovak CDK company a few years after ww2 ended when ČKD company was nationalized, as during the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in World War II it was renamed BMM Böhmisch-Mährische Maschinenfabrik AG and produced the 38(t), the famous Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer and all other vehilces based on it.
But the project was canceled and did not go beyond theoretical considerations, as the Communist takeover of the Czechoslovak government allowed the manufacture of Soviet weapons only.
We made the final production version on the 38(t) hull with the Hetzer wheel set up as parts of both tanks were to be used extensively.....

I’ve got to admit the TNH 57/900 is pretty damn cool! I could imagine it in Israeli markings in a 50s-60s time frame, since Israel actually considered post-war variants of the LT-38 family. Maybe other post war users as
well like Sweden, Peru or Switzerland. (The terrible but rarely discussed Swiss-Peruvian-Israeli border conflicts of 1954 come to mind but makes me shudder just to think about it!)

And yes, the Assault Sherman is still pretty cool, although it needs a
105mm howitzer for infantry support or a 90mm M3 for the anti-tank role.
