Supposed to be an airplane in above photo?
All I can see is tan & green.
-
It must be sympathy for the underdog but I do love the Buffalo ... and Vargas is scrummy icing on the cake ;)
-
I've got to agree that Buffalo is hot! The Vargas art certainly doesn't hurt, either!
I read an old interview with Pappy Boyington on a Flying Tigers site a while back. He said he thought the Buffalo was a pretty snappy aircraft and might've been able to hold its own against the Zero before they added a lot of weight to it. He said it was more manoeverable than the P-40.
Nice work, Jorel!

This is one attractive Buffalo!

I do like the camo scheme on that!

Particularly appreciating last three planes AD-6, Phantom, F-86K. Good subject choices.
Camo schemes are unique to find on each one and they all work :)

Nice scheme on the SAAF Skyknight. And, as usual, ... very ... distracting ... :-*
-
Thanks...... One more.

Thanks......

-
Wonderful Strom, thanks Jorel62! :-*
Is it "twin-boom" or "single-boom asymmetric"? :) :icon_music:
-
Whoa, that looks cool! 8) Are the booms from an existing plane?
-
Beatuiful work!! Do the booms on that last come from Gloster's F.9/37 entry?
-
Yes Tophe it's a twin boom. The Storm is a reworked Meteor.
-
Thanks everyone....... Here's a quick one. I hope everyone likes it.
-
Jorel, can you please try a fully loaded ground attack, carrier based Skynight? I always thought it looked like a primitive A-6, A-10, Su-25, etc... Wonder how well it would have worked. Choose your own markings/navy.
Please keep the girls coming ;) LOVE those Comets!!! Its a prop Meteor right? What engines did you chose?
-
Love the Cookie!! :-*
-
Cliffy, is this what you had in mind?

The Mystere and Hunter look nice.

The sea-going Super Mystere and the Hunter both look like they belong in those markings. Beautiful!!
-
Thanks..... Here's a couple from The Royal Navy. I know, wrong bombs. Sorry, I don't have any British weapons.

Love the Skyknighthawk, genius!!

Got a question, is the Comet/Sea Comet piston-powered or turboprop?
-
ripper !!!
Great idea the Comet series, they all look so.. so... right!
-
That last devastator is top!! Joe. 8)
-
Thanks a lot everyone...... I don't know a lot about the powerplants used. But if were to guess the Comet Mk. II would be powered by two Rolls-Royce Merlin's and the Comet MK. VI two Power Jet Ltd. turbojet's

I had to get to a laptop to find out what you meant, jorel. ;)
Now on to the Lancer, a nice looker indeed. As a matter of fact...... hey hey hey, could you imagine how it would look like with the cockpit arrangement of TA-4S (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:933_at_TA-4SU_Skyhawk_of_the_Singapore_Air_Force.jpg)?
-
Thanks guy's..... I'm glad you liked them.

Sweet, I imagine you are working on a raft of Tigers wearing F-104 and Mirage schemes? Looking forward to it. :)
-
Some truly gorgeous stuff the last couple days.
ISTR that there's a squadron out of McGuire that is a "Tiger Squadron" and 'twould by so appropriate to see both operational and "show" birds in their markings, especially for a NATO Tiger Meet.
-
Thanks guys........

Is it wrong to say that that Yak just looks so right in that scheme? 8)
LOVE those Tigers, especially the NJ-ANG bird :-* Needs to be built alongside a Thud and both need to be loaded for some Iron Hand missions!!!!!!!!!!

Is it wrong to say that that Yak just looks so right in that scheme?
It does look just right doesn't it.

Your (wonderful) Comet Mk VI looks like a twin-jet Mustang, indeed! :-* :-*
I was wrong, I realised it trying to compare:

But this provides me with a great enrichment to my Mustang collection, thanks!

Thanks...... they look great Tophe

The MiG-9 just screams out for a Ground Attack role with those cannon.
-
The MiG-9 just screams out for a Ground Attack role with those cannon.
Needs some pointy Soviet rocket pods too!
-
The MiG-9 just screams out for a Ground Attack role with those cannon.
Unfortunately, IIRC, MiG-9 suffers from gun gas ingestion from that cannon......
Maybe a hybrid of MiG-9 design and MiG-15 gun scheme?
-
Thanks everyone...... one more for today.

-
^^^What he said!!! That's just plain niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice 8)
-
Smooth blending combination. Must be real thing for RN. 8)
Plus what raafif and Cliffy said.

The Revell Raven seems to be a pretty twin-boomer, no? Is she single-engined asymmetric? Either way: I love! :-*

She's got great legs either way!

Oh yes please!!! More of the Raven!!!! :-*

Cool stuff!
-
That's a most attractive Hunter. Would it be imported or would they have found a US partner?
-
Oui oui indeed!!!! Extra points for the NJ-ANG 8)
That scheme really does suit the Hunter doesn't it? Need some ordnance though!! You know how the Marines like to move mud. How about some 20mm gun pods ala the F-4s?!
-

With 4 x 30mm cannon already, I do think it needs more guns. A nice mix of bombs and rocket pods would look sharp, though.
-

Thanks....... Yes I guess they would have a partner.

awesome thundershark!! 8)
-
:)
-
Oh, I like that. Instead of going for high-speed as in the XF-84H, they go for lifting capability with the straight-winged F-84 as a start and mix in a touch of A2D. Now, if Allison could only get the engines right without having to go through a complete redesign or got the redesign done faster. These would be perfect with T54 engines (T54 is to the T56 as the XT40 was to the XT38 - i.e. two of the other's gas generators driving one gearbox).
-
Thanks guys......

Nice, any chance of a VVS Corsair?

After giving your Devastator II some more thoughts, I am now leaning toward giving the Devastator II a Kahu nose and use it as an anti-ship strike craft...... :)
I suspect a Missileer-style nose will end up irredeemably-ugly......

I agree that a Kahu or A-4R "Fighting Hawk" radar nose would look good on the Devastator II or on the Skylass (with a name like that, it seems destined, too, for high and flighty nose art). For a Missileer-style radar nose, you'd need a rather large radome. If the radar antenna could get acceptable range and stay within the width of the fuselage, I could see a straight, constant cross-section, area right in front of the cockpit and then a large radome. If the antenna needed to be wider than the fuselage, I can see some interesting fairings aft of it; how well these are executed and blend into the existing lines would have a great effect on the aesthetics of the result.

Thanks guys........ you think my Devastator II is ugly :icon_sueno:
Here you go ARC.....

Nah, I think that my original suggestion of a missileer nose would ruin it.
Was looking for ideas on what goes with "face" ships. Ugly stuff goes heel.
Would anyone offer a speculation on the smallest carrier that can operate the Devastator II? ;)

Not hardly, I think the Devastator II looks good and was commenting on the thoughts of dy031101. A suitable radome, like those conversions I mentioned, would look good on on since the lines would blend. Going for a large, Missileer-style, radome would have the effects I mentioned (I'd rather you didn't, myself, as either would seriously hurt the aesthetics of the Devastator II).
-
I was only joking about the Devastator II. That's why I post for good and bad reply's.......

Love the Soviet F4Us

Maybe a U4 version or even a FG2 in the two tone grey scheme of some of the La-5s? For that matter, what about a La-5 with the R2800?
-
The VVS Corsairs are great! Maybe some underwing RS-82 rockets?
-
Thanks guys...... Is this what your looking for GTX?

Perfect!!!! Outstanding work - that may even have to be built one day! :)

Anyone have some 1/72 decals for that? I have an F2G that needs ideas. Would look great sitting on the ground in snow. That two tone gray over light blue is just :-*
Needs a Russian pin up though. Have any in those fur hats of theirs? ;)

Looks good but the rivet counter in me says “hang on that’s the air force SLUFF…”
For Australian Army aircraft the Aviation regiments have recently been awarded their own cap badges (only took 15 years to process) alongside their colours.

The eye of the charger in 6 Avn Regt is coloured red on the badge…

Oh wow.

NICE!
Particularly the 8 Sqn. Comet, but I think there would be a chance! of 'Nose Art'.
After all, 8 was ALWAYS the 'Naughty'! squadron.

What??!!!! No Pinup!!!! Standards are slipping I tells you...
these schemes are all far too neat & clean ! How about one heavily weathered with a few dents etc ??
And just to satisfy Greg ...... with a (newly-painted) pin-up of an old Hag on it ! >:D

They look great.

Thanks everyone.......
"these schemes are all far too neat & clean ! How about one heavily weathered with a few dents etc ??" I really don't know how to do weathering. But I'll try......

Getting better... ;)
-
Jorel,
I found a way to "weather" using a photoshop tool but it's still a bit involved - will experiment with "paint fading" later.
The Old Hag
After squadron service, 491 was used as a single-seat initial-trainer. It had a tough life, finally being written-off when it bellied in & hit a runway light. RAF apprentices "straightened" the wing & belly panels making it somewhat suitable as a gateguard at RAF St.Mawgan where, facing the sea, the paint weathered quickly. Corrosion from the salt air made it unsafe even as a gateguard & it was finally scrapped.
-
interesting..... :)

Catching up on your work, I loved the Skynights!
