Swedish F23 splinter
« on: May 28, 2018, 03:33:11 PM »
Hello all,

sorry for the time between posts but had life and other issues get in the way of the plastic fantastic. this was built on the YF23 1/48 from obby boss, 2 more of which are in the stash and allocated for other ideas.

i'll skip the major backstory in favour of the abbreviated version:

with the selection of the YF22 in US service, the Swedish airforce decided on a hi-low mix of gripens and F23's as they could negotiate a good deal for the basic airframe of the f23 from the loosing bidder.

i therefore present: the F23 Freyr (Lord)

Nice!  The Swedish style splinter scheme is always a winner!

Putting that scheme on a YF-23 is a winning combination!

I've never seen Swedish splinter camo done better!

Thanks all for your kind comments.

Only after i had used 2 full rolls of tamiya tape did i realise that swedish splinter camo is smaller and more irregular in shape.

But plenty more in the stash to sacrifice. Maybe an f111???

that would be the best looking F-23 I have ever seen! Great stuff!! I tip my hat to you with all that masking. No one can state you have no patience - that's for sure

F-15, F/A-18 as "high end" to Gripen, Harrier (either first or second generation)?

@Haemon - Did you consider adding stores pylons to your F23 while it was being built?
