Desert Speeder
« on: April 16, 2021, 07:23:46 PM »
This is the Hasbro tread speeder, that I modified to a desert speeder instead. I sawed off the treads, the toy-like missile launcher and it's mechanism, and other parts that I didn't want and replaced the opened areas with plasti-card and some minor scratch built and other small detail parts from 'box of tricks'. The result is what you see. I posed the figure that came along with the Hasbro tread speeder. I posted photos without the figure as well. Thanks for looking.

Wow  - Great weathering and so much better than the original design,  too! Those treads weren't doing it any favors.

Takes speeder to another level (or two) with mods and weathering.  Looks 'used'.

Used and abused, especially in that type of environment and combat scenario.

Yet again wonderful work!  Your design fits the universe better than the original. The greeblification also adds much-needed detail, especially  when compared to the rather bare toy.

The idea of a monotrack speeder/bike is pretty cool, but Disney's set-up doesn't really work, I think. Looks sorta imbalanced with the driver sitting so far behind the tracks. Kinda funny how the brain will excuse the Force and giant space lasers, but draws the line at a centre-of-gravity issue, going "Yeah nah, that doesn't work at all".  ;D
Cheers,

I guess they thought of a mono thread vehicle would associate better with the audience as it is currently on vehicle at the present time... Maybe...

My local library had a copy. The artwork has inspired board games and a mini TV series.
