In 1946, with the development of second generation night vision, the Heer authorized the formation of a dedicated NACHTJÄGER unit, the 11th Panzer Division was selected as the trial unit. The new forward engine E-100 was chosen as the heavy armor element, supported by infantry units equipped with night vision equipment.

Is the Night vision gear in the kit or source from elsewhere ?

The IR equipment on the commanders station is from the kit with MG added. The headlight and main gun light are from other E-100 kits. The IR vision lens for the driver and gunner are scratch built.
