Cappuccino 3
« on: December 14, 2020, 07:55:41 AM »
Hi All

While I was building the QUI Fighter I knocked together a Cappuccino Class 1950's retro flying saucer. For a giggle I'm going to send this one to the nephew for Chrismas as well

The main body is two coffee cup lids stuck to a CD end protector, the dome is from the top of a Cornetto 99 secured with a plastic card ring. The engine section is a circle and ring of plastic card with engines made from the indicator buttons from the coffee cup top. It was sprayed with Humbrol Chrome silver which turned out so shiny I decided not to decorate the sides or apply decals. Mind you it took around four days for the paint to fully dry.

Regardless of the above it came out pretty well and hopefully the Nephew will like this one as well.

Your comments and criticisms are also welcome  :D

Thanks for looking......

No coffee beans were harmed during the construction of this model...

Very imaginative!  Hope your nephew appreciates your efforts!

Weird but I like this better than the QIE/QUI/¿QUE? Fighter, & I'm not normally a fan of 1950's starship/saucer designs. 8)

Same thing for me at first glance.  UFO and Lieutenant Gay Ellis...

Thanks chaps, considering this one was thrown together with little planning it came out quite well.

Thanks again

Definiely UFO, too. The domed top does remind me of parts of Lt. Ellis

Very nice! Your nephew might require some explanation - the '50s will be retro of retro of retro for his generation!

Definiely UFO, too. The domed top does remind me of parts of Lt. Ellis

I had to Google "Cornetto 99" ... and surmise a Cadbury Flake analogue? I didn't have time to fully investigate ... spent too much time scanning images of Lieutenant Ellis trying to puzzle through Frank's reference  ;)

Maybe try googling Gabrielle Drake... very edifying.

Also, the Simon Pegg and Nick Frost Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy is a lot of fun.

Or just copy and paste the Mog's UFO image twice in a side by side arrangement and it will jump right out at you...  :)

Both good suggestions. I'll give them a try once I've completed my extensive image research on the 1972 classic, Au Pair Girls  ;D
