Golden Twin Bullet
« on: June 12, 2014, 08:35:50 PM »
..so at SAPMA last year a friend's wife says to me " so you've made a plane from a ship, what's next ?  a car from a plane ? "..
"challenge accepted" I say.

So earlier today I raided the spares box for all things surplus of an aerial persuasion and cobbled this together:

The only car parts are the engine at the front and the back wheels.

This arvo I splashed some paint on it - using the rock salt method as I'll make this a well-worn cross country vector racer of sorts.

tomorrow I'll put some numbers and a heap of dirt on it.

Should look good at this year's SAPMA Expo! :)

With any luck I'll be there (contract ends here on 20 Sept & I'll have at least 6 weeks off before I return - if I return) & I fully intend to be there!

Might bring a couple or three builds along to display! ;)

Marvellous !!!
The fitting of the whatever they are over the Starfight type fuselages is inspired and really sets it off and hides the origin of the part to boot.
That looks terrific and all in a single day ?

I'm on leave until next week Brian, so yes, a day's a long time when one can just indulge oneself in plastic musings and enjoy full polystyrene immersion without the spectre of work calling (the phone's switched off in a glass of water buried in the corner of the yard... under a packing crate...)

Nice one - very impressive kitbash for one day!

My trouble with things like this is indecisiveness: I spend so much time dithering over whether to fit part A or part B that I waste the opportunity..... ::)

... The fitting of the whatever they are over the Starfight type fuselages ...

I could well be wrong, but they look like A-10 engine nacelles (possibly cast copies?) to me.

2 x Revell FTB F104 fuselages, wings & empennage ( ~1/64) , 1/48 Revell A10 nacelles, 1/48 Revellogram A6 cockpit bits, 1/32 Revell F15 cockpit bits, vac-formed leftover 1/32 Northrop P600 canopy ( from that Iranian YF17 whatiffy thing), 1/48 Revell B1 undercarriage, engine and wheels from unknown 1/25 cars, heaps of wires and bits sourced mainly from HP & Fujitsu laptops & loads of solder.

Take off the wheels and it could easily pass for some sci-fi spacecraft.
