Tricycle Mitrovich MMS-3 drawing
« on: November 06, 2013, 11:10:21 AM »
When I was playing like Historian, I wanted to include the tricycle-landing-dear version of the Mitrovich MMS-3 as 1939-45 twin-boom prototype, but I wanted to escape the Copyright on the photograph found on the Web, so I should make a drawing of my own. I planned to do it during my holidays 2010 (if I remember well) but I felt too lazy, or too occupied with my young son, and I never finished it. Till now, with this "clear your workbench" challenge...
I have to find on my hard drive the very first lines that I drawed, then I should finish it.

My (un-finished) vectorizing file of the 3-view drawing (that I found on the Web also) is dated 2008/12/18, older than I thought. This was before I was a father, for my December 2008 holidays in the Philippines.

Now I should :
1/ finish the vectorizing
2/ make the nose wheel version profile, with the help of the photograph
3/ play inventing other derivatives, what-if side

That looks great!   But to heck with the wheels, I say fit floats  :)

Yes, thanks Queeg: at step 3, the MMS-3Q will be a floatplane (and the MMS-3E will be a flying boat, for dear Ericr not to be jealous), while the MMS-3T (T for Tophe) will be asymmetric single-engined...

Now at step zero, removing the bitmap background/guide, the starting point is this:

I agree - it looks like a floatplane already! It reminds me of the Republic RC-3 Seebee: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_RC-3_Seabee

So: step 2 is done!

The rear wheel could be removed but I think it was safe to keep it.

And now step 3A (MMS-3T: single-engined asymmetric version, still twin-boom):

Is high on cuteness/quiantness scale.
With modern 200-300hp engines it would be a blast to fly and used as Alaska bush plane.

Finsrin, do you have a profile source I may use? A twin-engined Cessna?

In the meantime, I have finishished step 3B & 3C: Queegovich MMS-3Q and Ericrovich MMS-3E:

Looking again at Acree's similar http://www.kristofmeunier.fr/mms3bis.JPG I understand my MMS-3E lacks lateral floats. Well, this is because this is a 3-engined zwilling twin-hull seaplane!

This one seems to go just fine, Tophe.  :)

Since I became the member of this forum, I could see that You're a man with a lots of idea, but being a Serbian, I must point the following: I know that this is what-if forum, but where, in Gods name, You found the names Queegovich and Ericrovich  :o ?

There's even a question is it supposed to be CH or just C at the end (my surname is Petrovic, for example) but this is completely different subject and a matter to translation/transcription. Typical serbian surnames are Jovanovic, Nikolic, Mitrovic, Petrovic, Markovic, Mihailovic, Djordjevic,... (just go wikipedia and type serbian name)

And one more thing... Through history, many yugoslav/serbian aircrafts, if there was a float variant, were usually carrying the designation H (hydro), like Utva 66H, so I think that MMS-3H would be much more simple and quite suitable.

Please, don't get me wrong, but those guys Queegovich and Ericrovich just don't fit  ;)

Sorry, I did not want to insult Serbia at all. I have learned a little Serbo-Croatian in the 1980s (I forgot all).
Translating names is a difficult matter, in Spanish New York is Nueva York, in French London is Londres and so on. French people love Ibrahimovic football player that they may write Ibrahimovitch (I thought nobody care - here many ones pronounce my name as Tofee while in my country this is pronounced Tof, no insult in these misunderstandings, we are here for smiling).
Queeg member had the idea of a float Mitrovic derivative so I called this one Queegovic, and Ericr seaplanes inspired the second one and its colours, thus Ericrovic. As I am the inventor of those profiles, I claim the right to invent names for them. They simply do not exist except in my crazy mind. ;)
Not to turn into politics, I will not discuss here the morality of nationalism (that I dislike always but feel free to like differently).

No hard feeling at all...  :)

I was just confused and reacted, completely overlooking to connect their (user)names with the subject. Therefore, it's on me   :-[

Keep up the good work and greetings from Serbia

A very informative discussion, guys. Thanks Vuk for helping me out with a problem I've had. I needed a name for one of my creations and you have provided me with just what I needed to know.  It just goes to show that on here you never know when or where you will find the answer you need.  Hopefully, you will soon see what you have done !!!
