Title: An old junked Junkers
Post by: Brian da Basher on August 31, 2019, 06:30:53 PM
I had a bit of a catastrophe the other day and my sad piles of model airplanes fell over. While cleaning it all up, I found something I started many years ago but never finished.

It began with new engines:

Here's how it all looks currently:

These shots show off that incredibly intimidating, streamlined spatted landing gear:

This is the overly-fiddly 1/144 Roden Junkers 52.

Originally, I was going to finish this as a Spanish version of Air Force One called Franco Force One but I hate fascists so I'll need to come up with something else. I'm open to suggestions.

Goodness knows when I'll get this one done, but I thought you might want to see the rarity of an incomplete BdaB build and share any ideas you might have.

Why not Swiss Air or a version of the Milka Ju-52, BdB? ???

Having done something similar in French, I heartily approve.  You could finish it as a Republican bird. ( Spanish Republican, that is. Anarchy in the Catalan, baby. )

Very nice rework.  As Old Wombat suggested, Swiss markings, either airline or as their equivalent of Air Force One, sound good though I could make an equally good argument for Finnish markings, possibly using captured Soviet engines.

I hate to be a bit predictable but late war German splinter camoflage with light blue undersides extending up the fuselage.

Or maybe all black scheme for clandestine operations (thinks:  although the jets might give the position away somewhat  :icon_sueno:)

Or then again a pre-war US yellow/silver scheme including pre war stars ( more thinks: didn't have jet engines then, or did they ?  ::))

Just my ha'porth. I'll shut up now  ;)

But kitbash looks good Brian

Cocaine Cartel transport?  That stuff does not fly itself to the party...

Looks really good, Brian - I like the jets AND spats... maybe flying "ladies of the night" into Las Vegas? Because the plane (like the passengers) has no visible means of support...

I knew you guys would have some great ideas although I might have trouble finding that Electrolux livery.  ;D

I think I need to work on this more and let those ideas percolate.

First up is a bit of cleanup, adding an "escape hatch" over that hole on top and a bit more putty between the wings & engines.
