Photos of a rare Tu-16 derivative - the Tu-16S SAR version:

I have always liked the idea of a RAF or RCAF Badger as a missing V-bomber.

Perhaps Gloster or Blackburn? Those engine nacelles beside the fuselage are a little reminiscent of the Javelin/Buccaneer.
-
Gloster / Blackburn Vengeance?
-
Sounds good! Perhaps Vengeful if you want to deconflict with Vultee's product. Hmmmmm... I have a Badger-C somewhere.......
-
Of course, given the Tu-16 still has some Tu-4/B-29 heritage...what about an American version...maybe as a low risk Boeing alternative to their B-47...just in case it didn't work out?
-
^ So what, coming on stream '48-'49ish? Trouble is, the West has got nothing like the Mikulin AM-3 round that time. It's a monster!!!
-
Maybe...but let's not let the facts get in the way. ;)
-
^ Fair snuff! :)

Sorta: "What if the Americans got the Junkers design team and their EF 132 design and not Soviets?" ;)
I don't know whether Tupolev actually used the Junkers design, but the overall layout of the EF 132 looks pretty similar to the Tu-16's.

So, a B-29 with swept wings and the jet engines buried in the wing root?
Would look a lot like tc2324's Tu-90:

If you want to change the engines to Western ones (as per Empty Handed's comment), maybe three in a row as on the EF 132, or, a little weirder, the inner two over-under and a third one next to them.
-
One option could have been an American development of the German DB 109-016 turbojet design. This proposed very large engine (length: 6,70 m /21 ft, diameter: 2 m /6 ft) was designed for a static thrust was 13,000 Kg (28,652 lb).
-
I always liked the Junkers triple-jet layout ....
-
As a V-bomber insurance policy ('52-'54 timeframe?) the de Havilland Gyron could be brought into the equation (suitably "super-prioritised" of course).

You know, I've always had that inkling re the EF 132, in both terms of the Tu-16 & the B-47!!
Nice effort with the Tu-4/Tu-16 marriage!!!

One of my "theme" ideas is What If Fouga, rather than Dassault, became the pre-eminent French aircraft manufacturer and applied a "house style" (as exemplified by the Magister) to all their products, modified only by the dictates of speed. The Tu-16 is a natural donor for a Fouga bomber since it has long wings and root-mounted engines. All it needs to complete the look is a V-tail and possibly a B-47-style nose...
-
^ Where's the thoughtful smiley?!!
-
We need a Badger with a pointy nose and four engines tucked together. ;D
-
^ Perhaps a Badger with an E-E Lightning fuselage on each wing root?
-
Hmmm...that would be interesting.
