He-219 missile carrier: Britain beware!
« on: April 13, 2013, 05:05:38 AM »
Hey gang!

Just in case you were looking for something really off the wall, check out my new what if: the He-219 G5/RT!.  I’m sure you’ve never seen a version of the Uhu quite like this! Adding a huge missile to the FROG Uhu just seemed like a good idea, no?

Check it out at the link above and tell me what you think!

Is this a new one or the one that was done a couple of years ago?  I am sure I have seen it before.

That said though, it has always been a favourite of mine.  Well Done! :)

No, its the one from a few years ago.

It was on the IPMS London website, but it has  been lost to time, so I thought I'd post it on my personal site, since I'm the guy who made it in the first place!

Glad you like it, and I'm glad it's back up!

Thanks guys!

It's amazing to me how good and bad the FROG Uhu is, all at the same time! The panelling is actually very detailed, but wheelbays and cockpit were abhorrent. It's a strange thing how priorities change, eh?

Does anyone have the fortitude to try this with one of the new 1/32 Uhus?

You got all that so right --- cockpit - turret - missile - fit and finish - background story.  Cool  8)

That's some excellent work! I hope you don't mind me posting one of the pics so people can see your enviable talent!

That's one of the nicest Uhus I've seen lately. Well done!

Post away, Brian! I'm always happy when people want to see my work!

The Float Stuka and my Uhu are among my favourite "far out" Luft-46 creations. I do have a few more up my sleeve, too, though. :)

I really need to build more of these things. The What-Ifs really call out to me.

Thanks guys!

The Unu is one of the saddest tales of political interference ruining a great plane, in my mind. Nazi Germany seems to have written the book on petty empire building ruining promising programs. Unfortunately, the idea seems to have been picked up along with swept wing and rocket technology! See programs like the B-1 and F-35 for details!

I think the Uhu would make a nice looking torpedo bomber too.... Hmmm....

Man, I like that one with the droopy radome! Exactly along the lines of what I was thinking!

It needs those useless remote-controlled side turrets, though!  ;D

totally agree >:D had my eye on this one for quite some time now - got the Tamiya 48th kit for it ... just waiting for someone to do the other bits in resin - any takers ???  I don't have the patience now to do it myself.

Great subject and build mods, color, fit, and finish  :)
Top turret adds extra class to He-219.
Easy to picture it in post war NATO service to perhaps mid 1950s.

I missed this. Great build and back story.

After seeing this my 219's won't be built OOB.

If you follow the link in the first post, which is to the full article on my website, you'll see a few pics of the missile, as well as more of the plane and its build process.

Take a peek and tell me what you think.

Just for ease's sake, I've reposted the link here:
