Hi guys. Yes, I'm still around. I am going to see if I can put together enough time to build something for this group build. I'm starting with the old AMT 1/48 Meteor. Not a great kit and not much detail, but perfect for Scaleorama.
The obligatory box shot.

This will be interesting! Carry on!

Today has been engineering new spars to support the new wings.

And converting it to 4 engines.

Looks great! I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the cockpit. Something from a small scale Vulcan?
-
Channeling the Short SA.4 Sperrin?

Perhaps Lindberg 1/96 Vulcan....

The brass spar is a nice idea to keep the wings aligned
-
I've spent the last couple days making new wings and enlarging the tail surfaces. Still some PSR to finish those up. Still trying to decide if it needs the pointed wingtips, straight ones or curved.

Here it is with the wings in place. They aren't glued on yet. Just held in place with the brass rods that fit the new brass tube spars I installed.

Well . . .
The picture you posted above, rang a bell with the little grey cells, and via a somewhat convoluted thought process, I remembered this :-

So, pointed wings it is, and tail feathers to match . . . ;)
cheers,
Robin.

Don't recall seeing that design before. But there are definitely some similarities.

Changes the look of the source kit immensely, nice work
-
Would say is on way to be hardcore 1950s.
-
Whoa, that's pretty! :-*

Today's update. Finsrin. didn't have an old Vulcan but I found an old Mosquito canopy and it fit pretty well. I painted it black on the inside since I didn't want to mess with any interior. The wings and tail are attached now and it is sitting on t work stand waiting for the glue to cure. The tail is taped in place so it doesn't sag before the glue hardens.

What a cool concept! I'm excited to see this come together!

Would this be forgotten bomber that was before the Valiant ?
-
This is looking very elegant, white anti flash finish?

Yep, you got it.
The decals went on today. A little light weathering and it's ready to go.

Kind of deserves the "Swift" name:

Cracking good job so far! ;)

Kind of bomber I'd like to concept and build.

The Gloster Vanguard. The RAF's forgotten V-Bomber
Initial planning on the Gloster Vanguard started before the end of WWII and it first flew shortly after the war.. It was the first 4 engined swept wing jet bomber for the RAF. It's service life was only a couple years as newer and more capable a/c were developed.

Very nice! And looks very smart in her anti-flash white
Kind of deserves the "Swift" name:
And a second vote for the name Swift :D

That turned out well ! Impressively elegant

Er, it's a V-Bomber, so it has to have a 'V' name . . . ;) ;D
Just a tiny quibble, shouldn't the grey/black part of the nose radome be on the bottom? ???
cheers,
Robin.
-
Could the "Viscious" with first flight 1948-49. Expresses early jet bomber feel really well.
What scale is canopy, hence bomber ?
-
Perhaps a "pre-V-bomber" using the Swift name? Much like the Sperrin. That's a beautiful aircraft, there.

Yep, could go with that, but then there is the Supermarine Swift, in the same timeframe . . . ::)
cheers,
Robin.

I thought about that. But it would have required a change to the nose gear doors and I didn't really have time to work that one out.

The canopy is from a 1/72 Mosquito. It was a 1/48 to 1/72 scaleorama.
