So with Tamiya supposedly releasing a two-seater IL-2 soon, it would be a hoot to build one up in USAF SEA colors.
Stiff upper lip when verbally talking about the kit to another modeller:  Yep it's the Tamiya kit.  Then watch the eyes of the listener closely as either a spark of humor or shock of waste sets in.

But thanks to Jeffry via Alvis, a beautiful single seat IL-2 resides already in Ye Proper Stasche.

Perhaps a "warbird" IL-2 with an Allison engine the same as some of those 'new build" Yaks out there?

Definitely a nice surprise and about damned time too.  Prior to this there was a vacuum-formed plastic kit and a couple of resin kits in 1:35th scale.

The BA-64 is on the Tamiya (Japan) site, but there is bupkus about the Gama Goat.

And we, till now unmatched in ill,
Must leave successors more corrupted still."

Would be nice to see an electronics shelter for that Gama Goat so you can model the various support vehicles.

Wish they'd sell the ALE-50 decoys from their F-16C/D kits a la carte... or put 'em in the next Weapons Set if there ever IS another.

The Gama Goat is a lot cheaper than I'd expected - about $30 with shipping from Lucky Model: http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=TA%2035330

It doesn't look like the driver is wearing any ear protection, though...
