Northrop F-21
« on: March 02, 2021, 08:05:15 AM »
I have warned y'all about inspiration threads.

Originally developed as a YF-23 testbed and proof of concept the F-20 frame was extensively modified to accept stealth technology as well as new engines, weapons and avionics. The military was impressed with the performance of the triple engine design. There had been an increasing number of UFO encounters  and it was determined that a super fast interceptor was  required. The govt contracted Northrop to further develop the light prototype into a fully realized service model.

Oops forgot to address the scale o rama aspect. She's a 1/48 F-20 making sweet, sweet love to a 1/72 YF-23

Great combo   Kinda reminds me of the Venga TG-10 concept aircraft ... except way more likely to actually get built, obviously  ;)

Needed a functional stealth weapons bay requiring more mass on the frame and lift for the nose

More detailing

Gun ports, sensor pods, and strakes

Not sure what these are but they are too cool not to include

Sidewinder pods

I built that YF-23 kit. A bit annoying with all the ripples on the control surfaces but it's coming out great. Your putty fu has served you well!

The 1:48 scale kit from HobbyBoss is not much better save for larger size.

It’s nothing a little perfect plastic putty or bondo can’t fix. My two favorites anyway.
