In 2015 the decision was taken by the Australian Government to form the Royal Australian Marine Corps to serve aboard the new CANBERRA class LHDs. In order to facilitate their amphibious warfare mission, V-22 Ospreys were ordered from their manufacturer Bell Boeing in the United States. Arriving in Australian in 2017, they quickly proved their worth during the West New Guinea intervention of 2020.

1/72 Hobbycraft V-22 Osprey with rotor blades folded and wing swung to the stowed position. This is my first contribution to the board. It is painted from a profile kindly provided by Maverick, some time ago, in a place, far, far away which will remain nameless, from an idea I provided.
(The concept of the "Royal Australian Marine Corps" has been kicking around Australian defence circles for some time with the Army a few years ago being jokingly referred to as "The Australian Army Marine Corps" at a conference I attended on Expeditionary Warfare, because of its taking up the idea of the USMC Marine Expeditionary Force concept to some degree.)

Indeed. They also fold away in a very short period of time to meet USMC/USN requirements for striking them below decks quite quickly. Since I'm working on the aircraft at Bell, might I show this to folk there?

Don't recall seeing abuilt V-22 kit in person. Comes across as just the thing for RAAF.

Thanks for the answers, I wonder if I could get brave enough to detail my C-5 with a V-22 inside like how Brian has made his (that's in 1/72 too)

Funnily enough i have the old italeri 1:72 Osprey in my stash... I keep changing my mind what to do with it though... :/

Love the Osprey in any and all forms! Your Aussie version is magnificent. I'm going to have to build one of my 1/48 -22s with everything folded up, just to save space and for a different look.
