Thanks to Weaver's inspiration at http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=4030.45
here is the alien explanation of WW2 victory: extra-terrestrial airships were launching airplanes like our ones:

This reminds me of an updated version of those Soviet bombers with little parasite fighters.

Of course, this is on a whole different level!

Thanks Brian!

the P-38EM Excursion Module (or LEM: Lightning Excursion Module) was a fake that never landed on the Moon in 1939 despite the film "proof"...
On the contrary, the P-38MR Mars Rover (or LRM: Lightning Mars Rover) was a true prototype that landed on Mars planet a long time ago, in 2039...

Thanks a lot finsrin for this joke with the MR letters...

Gotta say that the Lightning III bears quite a strong resemblance to the Earth Defence Directorate Thunderfighter from the TV series "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century".

The Angel Interceptor was also a Lightning-derivative. Here is the missing link:

Thanks.

Of course, there was a 3-jet triple Angel Interceptor
see http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/Airfix_Angel_Interceptor_GB_Gallery_about29780.html
and this Zwilling one came also from a Lightning:

You are right: probably the P-38's canopy would explode long before reaching Mach 28 ;)

I've been inspired by the space car of Goonie at http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=4083.0 . Thanks!

I really like your Goonies, Tophe!

My favorite is the one on the right. I think widening the fuselage helps the canards look more prominent.

Your work is always a delight to me, mon ami!

Thanks Brian!
Now, here are the SR-38A/B/C flying in the stratopause, 30km (100,000ft) altitude, which is almost space I think.
