It is time I come out of the closet.
NOT that closet! The modeling closet!
I few weeks ago I got my flu shot. But I think there some "extra" goodies in it as my modelling mojo has returned. Therefore I am calling it my MMMU shot (Modeling Mojo Midlife Upgrade). I am trying to reverse engineer it incase I need a booster shot.
So what what MMMU shot has allowed me to do is get back to building and actually finish a kit or two. Some of these kits will be part of the 100 Anniversary RAAF GB. (And that is also why Greg has kindly extended the GB to 100 days. RAAF decals are not that popular in Canada for some strange reason.)
Here we have a skein of Spitfires, Seafires, Spitefuls and Seafangs. Fighters are on the left. Photo Reconnaissance on the right. Kits are from Academy, Airfix, AZ Models, Fujimi, Hasegawa, KP, Special Hobby, Sword and Xtrakit. Each brand has it own good and bad points. I am also going to try out the Hakata Blue Line of paints. I have heard good things about it.
And some of the Eduard, KP, Sword and Special Hobby kits come with gobs of extra goodies such as fuselages, wings, rudders etc. There will be enough bits left over to Frankenstein together a few extra air frames.
There will be quite a few new versions of each aircraft once the paint is on and the decals have dried.
I'm still working on the taxonomy so once I finally finalize it, I will share model details (and many MK.XVIII builds) on each build. And yes, there already has been some amputation's and reattachments.

...My building fetish was the Aeronautica Macchi C.202 starting with the 1963 FROG 1/72nd scale kit in 1964, dozens built from number of makers, wanted to build the inaccurate old 1962 Revell MkII Spit one last time, didn't get around doing so.

I finally got my first two builds completed for the RAAF 100 Year GB. There are six more very close to being finished.
In order to squeeze in all my ideas, I need to diverge from the original Spitfire timeline.
The changes are:
- The Spitfire was license built by Kaiser.
- USAAF fighters are F-34x
- USAAF PR are F-1x
- US Navy / Marine fighters are FxK-y
- US Navy / Marine PR are FxK-yP
- As of the MK.XVIII, the suffix is now the letters a, b, c or d. The letters do not reflect the wing type but rather the order in which they built. This allows me to build a Razor Back MK.XVIII or a Bubble canopy F.MK.21
- I also learned the broad chord rudder used in the MK.XVIII was also installed on the MK.XIV and MK.21.
So the new suffix and the wider use of the broad chord rudder or a tail or swap creates an opportunity for many new versions. The two RAAF Spitfires are examples of rudder and tail swapping.
