FW-190DZ (Zivil).
« on: May 23, 2015, 10:08:16 PM »
I have finished my FW-190DZ (Zivil).  I started the project in October 2014.  It started with the Revell 1/32 scale kit.  Here are my mod's:

1) Motorized the prop.
2) Filled shell casing ejection holes.
3) Removed wing gun humps and replaced with bits from another airplane model.
4) Scratch-built the forward upper fuselage using sheet plastic to eliminate gun humps.
5) Retracted the gear.  This was not a standard kit option.
6) Custom asymmetrical paint scheme.  My 1st attempt to paint it failed due to incompatible paints.  The purple paint allowed the blue to bleed thru in lines forming an irregular pattern.  :icon_crap: So I had to remove the paint with lacquer thinner.  Then  I primed with Rust-oleum camo. tan. I sprayed the base color Modelmaster French Blue.  The purple areas were done by masking the rest of the plane, hand painting them flat black and covered them with Decoart Majestic Purple Metallic Lustre.  Overall it looks OK from a distance (the further the better!).

DZ looks better in pictures than in real life.

So this is a racer or pure aerobatic aircraft?

It's whatever you want it to be.  It might work as a long distance racer.

:)  Either way, I like it.  The idea of civilianising many of the WW2 fighters etc is an attractive one.

I like this one a lot! The third pic is definitely the "money shot" if you ask me!

Surprised we don't see more "racing" FW-190s. Seems a concept ripe for exploration!

Well done, Timcat!

I plan to do something like that with a Fw-190V1
