So I'm thinking ---- the Avro Vulcan started off with near perfect triangular wing, but then the leading and trailing edges got changed because of one reason or another.  Do you think that the A-12 would go the same route ?

Probably not, unless they made some breakthroughs in low-observable materials.  The need to reduce RCS is what drives the shape.

Agreed.  Given the importance of exterior shaping to the low observability, external shape changes would only occur if it gave an improvement in this regard.

You'd need a very different antenna housing.  I'm thinking that something like an inverted TSSAM basic shape (rather the part in front of the wings mirrored aft for a symmetrical shape) could work since that would be close to the general shape of Tacit Blue which was intended to carry an LPI version of what became the J-STARS radar.

I think it is time to bring this topic up from the depths now that the ModelCollect 1/48th scale kit is sort of available for consumption.  For the few of us that have managed to acquire the kit after an exceptionally long wait it was bittersweet in that we finally got what we wanted as an injection moulded model kit but one that has a few problems included that may have been the result of the manufacturer not having the exact details or sloppy quality control.  Either way, the kit is out and even with the faults found so far beats having to carve one from a block of wood or Styrofoam as a scratch building project.
