Bernhard Pethe has provided an in-box kit review of the Avis 1:72nd scale MiG-8 Civil Aircraft (kit number BX 72013) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=9870) at Modellversium.de.

Interesting design and certainly one that I had never seen before.
***If anyone knows of an actual web page for Avis feel free to share it or send me the link and I will add it to this post.
Thanks,

Cute…I wish it was in 1/48…or even 1/35. One could do a nice diorama showing it in the driveway of a house.

It is in 1:72nd scale Greg. You must be up too late again or far too early and waiting for the coffee to kick in ;)

Corrected! ;) One coffee down...

I don't know if Avis has a web site. I get the impression that they have other companies make their kits for them (in this case, AModel). I have their 1/32 Fokker E.V kit and it doesn't look like a typical Amodel product; closer to Roden.

I run coffee through a drip over night, make mornings easier

Nice. Like to build with engine upgrade. STOL
-
Damn, I was hoping for this in 1/48 ;)
If all the people who have ever heard of this aircraft buy a model, it should sell well into the two digits.
-
Nice little oddball. I can hope that eventually an Abrams Explorer will appear from these folks.

It’s 1/72nd scale and only 500 pcs! Where’s my microscope?
Unless of course they mean only 500 kits produced.
-
I think it's the latter. ;D

I think it's the latter. ;D
One would hope so. It looks like, not counting fasteners, that there were not that many pieces in the full scale original.
-
They also have this one coming:

Is that a covered option for a second seat behind the pilot?

Yes, but when flown the engine delivered insufficient power to fly with a passenger...oopppsss. ;D

Definitely an oopsie!! At least they covered it over to reduce drag.

This on the other hand... ::)

-
Ah, no!
-
And each a mere 500 pieces! ;D
-
500 copies of the kit, not 500 parts to the kit! It does look a bit like a flying anus...

Funny, I've got some D-ANAL registrations from a Ju-52 Lufthansa livery supposedly.
Although I suspect Roden is just messing with us.

Would the individual flying this "thing" be called a Proctolator?

If you feel the need to build ugly, this kit is for you.

I picked one of those up at one of my local shops just before Christmas. It looks quite nice, though the front end is a four part clear shell around the cockpit and looks like it will require some forethought and jigging to bring together well.
I've got a couple of mild "What if" ideas brewing for it. The Optica isa crazy enough looking concept that it doesn't need anything over the top as far as whiffery goes to make something eye catching out of it.

How can anyone not want this:

How many "no thank you" did I get per calendar year as this is one of them
-
Has lots of crazy potential - join two kits together ? Tho 1/32nd would be a better scale for these - I've seen the Edgely Optica in 72nd built & its toooo small.
-
I'd buy it in any scale other than 1/48.
Wow, the thing actually flew (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zerbe_Air_Sedan) once.

Is there any chance a forumite has contact info for AviS, perhaps from a kit box or instruction sheet, that they could PM to me?

Their Scalemates entry (https://www.scalemates.com/brands/avis--458) doesn't list any contact info.
They're a Ukrainian company, but the box for the 1/72 Nemeth Parasol lists IBG of Poland as their importer (I bought the kit from Ukraine!) I know Miniart has moved many of their operations to Poland, so this may be a way Ukrainian model companies are protecting their business from the war.
Their email is : ibgsc@ibg.com.pl

Thanks Frank, Scalemates was my first (disappointing) stop. I appreciate the help!
