The Traders - Deal is done!
« on: August 04, 2021, 03:41:04 PM »
Nothing to see.. yet.
But the formulation of a plan is on the bench with some random pickings of stuff to get the mind running.
So far I have some figures that might work and a Camel. Obstinate, spitting, grumpy type of Camel.

Working on a "Dies the Fire" type Post Apoc world, where something has changed physics and fast combustion does not work. So no internal combustion engines or firearms that sort of thing

Tying to replicate the visions in my head is difficult. Sometimes the vision outstrips the skills.

I am ditching the "No firearms" thing  and going a bit more trad Post Apocalyptic, but I am going for more gender equality with a couple of women in the Trader team.
Nevertheless, here we go. Beginnings of the Traders Cart and few figures that will evolve as well

Yup. As with a poor artist's model, just convincing that 'vision in your head' to stay still can be a challenge!

Yeah Story, like that but with less camels  ;)

I am on a stash depletion/recycle-reuse strategy over the last year or so, so unless it is in the stash already it ain't going to be there.****

Annotations
**** Stuff that appears that I really, really have to have are exempt from the Stash depletion strategy.

Excellent approach, And, if I may say so, very a propos.

Of course, in the spirit of this GB, additional material(s) should only be gathered through surprise raids on your neighbours' stashes  ;)

Frank, it is a MAiM Figure. Had it in the stash for a while, it appeared again during the fossicking around phase, which was nice. Along with the 5 odd Zombie figures I have gathered up over a period.

Story, nice source of animals.

I am surprised nobody has used any Camel Tow/e lines yet ;)

1) Replace Camel with Elephant
2) Replace Gatling with M134 minigun, batteries and ammo panniers.
3) Profit

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

'The Bytown Gunners' are a good gig. Close enough to Pet for exercises, lots of regimental history, and plenty of ceremonial opportunities. Plus, during Gun Salutes on Parliament Hill, 30 RCA are the only gunners able to use Queen Victoria's statue as an aiming aid

Thanks Stephen. My daughter is also at the 30th. She in the process of completing her DP1. In 2 weeks time she will be going to the Meaford training facility for her live fire exercise on the C3. She was a sentry at the 42 gun salute for the Governor General.  Then she got the "pleasure" of helping to clean up the guns.

To the best of my knowledge Queen Victoria is still standing.  ;D

A bit of progress. The vastly over engineered, but built for purpose Trader Trailer. Cobbled up a Collar for the Camel

Plan to have a few solar panels, to charge devices/radios and lots of boxes for stuff. Figures are starting to take shape as well with various bits and bobs.
using the Meng US Military Individual equip set. The pack straps glue down just lovely and fit nicely. Heaps of nice kit in that set

Tudder side of the trailer. Been gathering up goods for the load as well.

Found a nice full face on image of a panel, copied off, resized, duplicate and printout. Stuck onto some painted plastic card.
I was happy the way they came out as well. Whilst most modern panels are more blackish, the blue just looked better.

Nice   There are 3D printed panels available on Shapeway that are in no way as convincing as yours ... and they're asking silly money too  :P

Well being in lockdown with pretty average weather does get some model building done

Some Cart basics

Stores and a bit of Camel action

Camel and figure progress

No real idea of what the Tare capacity of a full laden Camel is but I hope this gets the point over

All in all, moving ahead  :D

Camel is from an Masterbox figure set - Commonwealth AFV Crew.. go figure

Almost there, bit of a test fit with the last of the figures, a customer with trade goods.

Awaiting a couple of final bits, provided by the stupendous Old Wombat :icon_alabanza: and some touch ups and then good to go.

The women and baby come from this 101st Light Company set. I would think it depicts a "collaboration horizontale" women, who were treated rather poorly. Finding a use for figures like this is sometimes difficult, but maybe works here with a few mods
