First two candidates...
« on: January 09, 2016, 11:30:37 PM »
...out of a number usual found in surveys of mosquito populations...

A twenty+ year old Rikkugun  Ki-93 from the unfortunately defunct A+V models. It's been sitting largely complete save for landing
gear, cockpit and paint for four or five years now - last filling ( the wing roots were pretty rough ) and just fair enough weather yesterday for primer on that and the Heller Breguet 693, which I put a interior into early last fall. Unfortunately, on of the landing
gear legs has gone missing, so I'll have to coble something together.

Geez, did your workbench get a visit from the IDF recently?

I'd pick up a set of Egyptian decals and call those two done.

Cheers,

harumph. Well, thanks to the interwebz, I can now glower impotently across the miles almost instantly...
  ;)

Honestly, though, after the struggle, ( still incomplete ), to get the fuselage halves of the Bregeut together, I
am tempted to see if one of the local fireworks stands left a pack or two of Black Cats behind... Clamped
all along with clothespins and it still shows gaps at the nose. Temp in the workshop is down around 55
farenheit, so I'm popping in and out today. Will edit in a couple more project/progress pics anon.

Ain't it always the way? You make a modicum of progress, and the damn robot barges in...

I do not lack for projects.

Anyhow, I got the Bregeut closed up-still pondering the gear situation.
here's a close-up of the cockpit.

Weather is supposed to remain chilly for the next couple of weeks, but I'm hoping it'll
warm up enough before the deadline to spend a day painting.

Some progress.
I'm going with a conjectural 'Australian theater' scheme, dark mottle over  sand. Looking at the picture just now,  I suddenly realized I'd forgotten to spray the gear doors.  ::) Well, It'll get there.
With the Breguet, I decided to give it floats.
Got to do some hunting for pre-war French SEA schemes.

Craig - The Ki-93 is already looking fast. I've forgotten about painting the gear doors - with the rest of the plane - more often than I'd want to admit. I usually notice them after I've cleaned out the airbrush.

Too bad about the Baguette Breguet 693. I was tempted to buy the Smer reboxing; thanks for taking one for the team! The floats are an improvement.

Good thing you don't have a Heller Putz Potez 63-11 on the bench!

The Briegoo Breguet is a neat little kit - the surface detail is really nice for the age, and just needs a bit of gentle sanding overall to knock it down just a notch. Fit is...so-so. It is wholly void of interior, too.

That's a good looking plane! The cowls and props are fantastic! The engines/cowls/spinners almost look like La-5 engines.
