Messerschmitt Me-809
« on: March 14, 2014, 12:37:18 PM »
With remaining* parts from my two Messerscmitt 110 model (twin-engined Bf-109), Unicraft 1/72
http://www.unicraft.biz/germ/me110m/me110m.htm
I consider building an asymmetric Me-809:

Uh?
- Not many projects but a single double one, received for Christmas/birthday
- Not many tools to cut resin properly but a single one, disappearing from time to time, as classified by Mrs Tophe...

That was very wise waiting until you found your cutting tool, Tophe.

Whenever I see resin, I remember the time I butchered a bunch of parts because I used the wrong tool to cut it.

The hard job goes on... Lots of putty layers are required to transform the double-engine (badly glued) into a manned pod:

Thanks Brian.

The building goes on. I have chosen 2-blade propellers at last (I had enough blades for 3-blade propellers, but I am planning all 3 propellers locked horizontal for emergency water landing...).

Well, mounting is finished, just remains colouring...

I had not noticed: there are intermeshing propellers (from different engines, the crash is very probable) ;)

No probs Tophe, perhaps a Kamov engineer designed the intermeshing mechanism?  :D

Thanks a lot.
The first layer of sky blue paint is on the underside. I am ashamed to show I do not sand the "invisible" parts of the model (with puty used as extra glue)

This is an old compromise of mine: in the 1990s, I wanted all perfect and I did not finish a single model... Now I make them raw and rather easy, and I finish them all...

The paint looks like it's coming along very nicely. You'll have us amazed at another of your wonderful creations, Tophe!

nice model Tophe !
Don't think the props are actually intermeshing, as one is slightly ahead of the other, but do have overlapping areas of sweep.

I found that my old digital camera takes much better pics when I photgraph outdoors in natural sunlight than indoors under bright fluros - the flash just makes things worse.

I probably cannot build it in resin but I can show you the 3D drawing of it, Mr Mushi... (thanks ;) )
