Title: Artoor_K shipyard :)
Post by: Artoor_K on August 15, 2015, 08:28:04 AM
Well, It's about a time to set up such "institution" :) I really don't want to make topic for every ship I have :)
First participant: Greyhound/Melvin/Blue Devil...anyway, it a Fletcher-class destroyer made by Lindberg in 1960s:

(http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a615/helmutvp/Fletcher/url_zpsy3chwshb.jpg) (http://s1286.photobucket.com/user/helmutvp/media/Fletcher/url_zpsy3chwshb.jpg.html)

It'll be RC with spinning radar, lights and turning guns :) Now few ideas about painting and finishing:

1. Whiffing to resemble "Lighting" destroyer:
(http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a615/helmutvp/Fletcher/DSCN6735_zpstnz6uodl.jpg) (http://s1286.photobucket.com/user/helmutvp/media/Fletcher/DSCN6735_zpstnz6uodl.jpg.html)

2.make it as a USS Leutze, Fletcher destroyer with Polish Commander
(http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a615/helmutvp/Fletcher/USS_Leutze0548101_zpswem3of4v.jpg) (http://s1286.photobucket.com/user/helmutvp/media/Fletcher/USS_Leutze0548101_zpswem3of4v.jpg.html)

3. Make my own Fletcher in Admirality Standard scheme or simmilar scheme as Leutze

I don't know yet...

That's a tough call, Dazzle's hard to beat but there's something about that first wavy scheme that's almost hypnotic.

I tend to go with hypnotic, but that's just because my poor social skills make it hard for me to get dates otherwise.

Have you come to a decision on this one yet?

Nope, but I think I'll go with wavy scheme :)

Well, I haven't decided which way to go... Make a whiffed, refurbished, polish Fletcher or make a WWII whiffed polish Fletcher :)

Sooo...I've pull out another participant - USS Lionfish by Revell in 1/178.

Lionfish is a Gato - class...I want Balao - class USS Pampanito in "USS Stingray" markings :) from "Down periscope" movie :)

Very much looking forward to seeing more of the Balao project. I always check out sub builds when I get a chance and I always enjoy them immensely.

I bought conning tower from Nautilus Models. Unfortunately quality was horrible. I've used only two parts of it + 1/200 railings (not on photos) . Propeller guards had to be removed, along with anchor "bay"

I printed decals with "Stingray" logo. I'm limited to inkjet printer only so I had to improvise a bit :) I pained part of hull white and put decal there. I will paint hull with grey once again. There wasn't another option.
