Title: Buck Rogers Rescue Mission
Post by: Buzzbomb on February 22, 2015, 08:02:03 AM
There is a local Sci Fi Movie Convention on 70's Films here in Melbourne on 7-9 March
http://www.con70.com/ (http://www.con70.com/)

At short notice a few of my club are putting on a display of 70's Sci Models.
One of the models was I had was the old Monogram Buck Rogers Starfighter.. somewhere in a box.
I dug it out and uuuurrrgggg !!!!
Mission Quick Lazarus
First of all it had to be deconstructed.. well that was pretty easy, most of it had done that in the box already and some parts gone, like the canopy I had cut out at some stage

So after a display quality reconstruction and adding in a forward landgear.. oh and scratchbuilding a new canopy we have this

Luckily on one of my early visits to Wonderfest in the US I had picked up some replacement decals which made that part easier.
So off to the Con it can go now.

This show has also lead to the repainting of a BSG orignal series (and original release with firing missiles) Cylon Raider and a Klingon K'tinga Cruiser from Star Trek the Motion Picture.

Just plastic card with some "shirt Box" clear glued in.
Nothing special just straight cuts to sort of match the cut outs of the older canopy removal scar.
Which is why it is posed forward because it is not 100% accurate as far as fit goes.

This is only display quality build.. it mostly passes the 3ft viewing test.

Pretty rare to find these days as a kit. There are alternatives around
