Looking good! What country is the thing going to be in service with?
-
I assume by IDF it is meant to be Israel. If so, I guess great minds think alike since I have one in my stash to do the same. Mine will be closer to '48 though and will have been acquired the same time as Israel acquired their S-199s.
Which kit are you using?
-
Not sure about the GREAT minds but yes, Israeli. They were offered 16 or so in 1948-49 but realized they could get 20 scrap Shermans for the price of two ST-1s! I am also working on a BergeHetzer for the 1949 period. I have plans (maybe) to do an export Hetzer mounting the IMI 60mm hyper-velocity gun with smoke launchers, FN-MAG Swivel mounts, and maybe Blazer armor packs.

Current "On my Floor" Build!
Glad I'm not the only one that does that!
Looking good so far
-
Not my preferred location but the Man Cave is a "little" crowded right now! can't even see parts of it! I know my desk is in the corner and I can almost see it!

Well I suppose to keep building, one must find a new location as a respawn point ;)
-
Very nice. Will this be olive drab or sand?
-
GOing for the Sania Gray and white markings.....circa late 56 or early 57.
-
Last shots before the paint booth.

Looking much more purposeful now with all of the accessories. Will you be using the main gun from the M50/AMX-13 for this project or sticking with the more traditional Teutonic weaponry? :)
-
No,
This one will retain the 75mm it came with. I am planning an export version that will be diesel engined and sporting the IMI 60mm hyper-velocity gun.
-
No picture updates but it has received, paint, wash, decals and flatted. Currently working on the ModelKasten tracks. They looks and work REALLY nice but are VERY time consuming to assemble.
-
Homeward Stretch! Needs a headlight, gloss the scopes, antenna needs to be re-attached, need to figure out tow cables. They will not attach the way they are currently configured and I need to find a Commander figure.

great Hetzer. What did you use for the color and wash?
-
The color is Model Master Israeli Sand and the wash was MIGs dark wash! Still not keen on it yet. My own washes seem to bring out the base more.

Thanks Mark.

That looks lovely, Mark! Very, very well done. Quite believable!
Cheers,

:)

Looks really neat, Mark :)
Model Master Israeli Sand ??? My bottles of that always turn out more beige - not a hint of yellow in it :icon_nif:
A Tamiya Sherman figure or maybe the British guy from their Cromwell kit would be good for the commander .... or even a Heller French tanker-helmet for a different look (used RW) - just paint the uniform in IDF colour.
Looks like you're going with a .50cal for the roof ? .30cal would be more appropiate or maybe a MG-34 - both were used by the IDF in '48.
-
I have noticed that also! I usually add some shading color to each paint job so I don't get a collection of ALL the same colored vehicles. I think this is the figure I will use.

However, this one also has promise.

The first figure looks like Moshe Dayan without the eye patch...or Ted Koppel
-
Looking good ... and those ModelKasten tracks were obviously worth the time :)
-
The Model Kasten are really nice! A lot better looking than Fruil but harder to assemble.
-
Finished!!!

Mark, she's a real beauty. Very nice paintwork on the fig as well.
-
:o
Hit it perfectly :) Really looks legit :-*
-
Oh my goodness that's quite a head-turner, Mr Aldrich!
Your work on the figure is top-notch as well!
Outstanding!!!

Well done.

What a great and logical concept of the IDF using Hetzer's!!
If anyone was going to keep the tank destroyer concept alive and practical it would have to be the Israeli Army!!
Excellent job!!
