As for the painting and weathering involved, it was faily straightforward:
The base color was an simple mixture of Tamiya Acrylics: XF-25 Light Sea Grey with some XF-50 Field Blue (just a tiny little bit).
Everything applied with an airbrush, with the center of the pannels "lightened" with some XF-2 White added to the previous mixture.
The global weathering and the final hue variations and "grime and rust" on the panels and bolts were done with Winsor & Newton oils.
3 or 4 different kinds of "yellows & browns": burnt sienna, burnt umber, raw umber and Naples yellow...
To finish, a coat of Vallejo acrylic mat varnish all over the scene.
