F-15SJ Samurai Eagle, JASDF 304 Hikotai
8th Air Wing, Tsuiki AFB, 2016in 2012, the Japanese selected the Boeing F-15SE Silent Eagle as a replacement for the old F-4EJ Phantom.
ina first batch, the JASDF ordered 40 aircraft with 40 more in option. the japanese Silent Eagles were heavily modified to meet the JASDF requirements. modifications include canard foreplanes and thrust vectoring nozzles to increase maneuvrability and shorten runway distance.
the aircraft were designated F-15SJ Samurai Eagle, but the USAF refered to them as the Super Eagle, as they were planning on buying similar configured aircraft to augment the F-22 Raptor in the Air Defence role.
the F-15SJ was in many aspects seen as the ultimate evolution of the F-15.
304 Hikotai marked 2 aircraft as Agressors to assimilate the chinese J-20 and Russian T50 PAK-FA's in exercises.
the model:model is a Dragon 1/144 F-15E, modified with canards (tailplanes from a revell F/A-18C/D) and canted tailplanes.
2D exhaust nozzles are scratchbuild from plasticard.
decals are leftover from a revell F-4E/J Phantom.
for color scheme i decided to go for a blue trim agressor scheme, as seen on a JASDF F-15J.
it was quite a simple build, nothing fancy.
