This little beastie won me a Whiffy over on What If Modelers.

VERY believable and well done! Enter than in a show and you'll probably win and fool everyone as to the fact that its a whiff 8)
-
Damn that looks good! I want to do similar to a Catalina one day.
-
A lot going on in that diorama and it is busy with a purpose. You really planned out where your figures would be and what they would be doing so you definitely deserved to win that whiffie award :)
-
Very sharp!
-
Were the stripes decals or painted on?
-
Thanks, again, guys! :))
If you look carefully you can also see a couple or 3 whiffer "in" jokes. The main 2 being the organisation that operates the C-119C(T) & the (Australian, VH-) registration.
Greg: the stripes were hand painted, the rather nice orange-tan was acheived by spraying a coat of Tamiya Light Sand (?) & over-coating that with a light spraying of Tamiya Clear Orange (both from the rattle cans).

My hat off to you sir. Outstanding patience!

Awe inspiring finish. What category did you win in?
-
Best Prop Job.
Was also nominated for Best Alternate Markings but that was won by a rather nice navalised F-111B by Firefox.

Top notch job indded!

The little touches in the cockpit are great! Nice job on the Ural, too. Are those Preiser figures?

The Ural was a bit of a simple kitbash of 2 ICM kits, too, being the body of a later model with the tray of an earlier one. And I'm pretty sure that's a "yes" on the Preiser figures, I'm certain most of them are but I also bought some Fujimi & Hasegawa (?) figures & I'm not sure if one of them slipped into the dio.
