Flight Sim skins ? Me.109 racers ...
Help sought ... does anyone out there have such a thing as the flight simulation game 'European Air War' by Microprose ? im after some decent screen grabs of the Utti racer Me.109's downloadable from http://www.sandbagger.uk.com/deanH109.html (http://www.sandbagger.uk.com/deanH109.html) for modelling reference (or even just a grab of the skin itself for aircraft 'A' !) :-\
many many thanks, Joe

I don't have what You're asking, but will these be of any help?

hmm, just musing in 'whatif' vein, i wonder how the Vampire FB.6's would have looked painted thus if the airshow had taken place 10 years later ? (or 20 years later, their 'hotrod' MiG.21F's, or even later yet Hawk trainers ?) ;D
ps. 'C' Is noted to have been 'green' but no photos have as yet come to light as to any patterning applied ? possibly horizontal stripes ? or waves ? or zig zags ? or ...

whilst researching the Finnish 'Utti racers' from 1950, i came across these profiles of 'B' by Jan Mace, Pentti Manninen (x2) and an unknown artist ...

Obviously, these were the inspiration for my racer RF-61 (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=4421.msg71996#msg71996).
Part 5 of the Finnish Reporter Chronicles, 'A Day at the Races'. (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=4421.msg71996#msg71996) As always, click on the image below to see the picture at 100% or view it at my DeviantArt page (http://comradeloganov.deviantart.com/art/Finnish-RF-61F-Reporter-Utti-Air-Races-457079400).

beautiful 'RP.61' Reporter artwork Logan, a really detailed and plausible backstory too, 'whatiffing' at its best, it certainly would have been a sight to see tearing round the air racing pylons :)
whilst checking through various Finnish references, i have found yet another participant to the 'Midsummer Air Races' at Utti, this one a VL. Pyry trainer (artwork by Pentti Manninen), with orange and white added to the standard scheme for the type.
I am unsure wither the aircraft depicted took part in the actual races themselves, one possibility being an entry from each squadron ? (eg. Me.109G (MT-508) coded 'B' was from HLeLV.31, whilst Me.109G (MT-402) coded 'D' was from HLeLV.33 !) or the possibility it was used as a 'pacer' or 'umpire' aircraft (the Pyry seemingly carrying added markings overall whilst the Messerschmitt's appear to have their 'racing colours' on the port side and corresponding upper wing ! presumably implying an anti clockwise course route ?)
cheers, Joe
