The Aussie people includes also engineers and they made a great derivative of the Mirage F-1; the unmanned UAV-1:

Actually if I recall correctly the Dassault / French government offer to Australia was for locally produced aircraft to be exported and supported in the Asia Pacific region by Australia.  So extrapolating this, Indonesian, Malaysian, Singaporean and New Zealand F1s! ;)

Ahem, this was not joke but Secret History I think.
Similarly, as the Messerschmidt Bf-110 (winner of the Air Battle for England 1940) has proved, the best fighter has a rear post for defense, and the Mirage F-2 (or FF-2?) was a great (Secret) improvement:

Road not taken:

The original Harrier was demonstrated to Argentina.  What if they had bought some and a squadron or two were stationed in the Malvinas after they took them?  I've got an idea for armament, Sidewinders on each outboard pylon, Martin Pescador ASM's on the inboard pylons, and the guidance pod for the ASM's on the centerline hardpoint.

As you know I'm not good at stories, for all my MiG's I was guided by the motto '' MiG's for everybody ! ''
I don't know the history of that part of the world to make a plausible or even an interesting story.
