U.S. Army Parachute Team receives its second aircraft.
The U.S. Army Parachute Team, also known as the Golden Knights, received a second C-147A, the military designation for the DeHavilland DHC-8, 315 Series. The aircraft replaces the Fokker C-31A which had reached the end of its life cycle and was expensive to maintain due to limited availability of replacement parts. The USAPT has used the Fokker C-31A as its primary jump platform since 1985 and it has been the only operational plane of its type in the United States since 2014.
