Yesterrday I had the chance to see a large Russian Cock...

 ;)

Is this in the UK Greg?

Yup! my friend Steve Gardner sent me a whole bunch of this aircraft as detail reference for the 1/72 Tu-22 I have yet to build.

There is an access door in the top of the vertical fin that includes a ladder back down to the inside of the aircraft.  One of those interesting technical tidbits that got my interest when learning more aboot the C-17 aircraft.

Thanks Jeff, I did know about that access hatch, I've seen a photo of a guy poking his head out through it and then found out about the ladder built inside of the fin. Gives some perspective of it's size doesn't it.

Sound like the large Mil helicopters (Mi-6, Mi-26, et al.) where there's access and a ladder in the tail boom to lubricate and service the tail rotor gearbox from inside the aircraft.

Seen something like that at YYC, an aircraft cut a corner from one taxiway to another and the wheels ended up on the asphalt shoulder and promptly sunk into it. Took two weeks to repair the damage (how do I know, was there with the contractors who had to fix it)
