here is what the Buccaneer fuselage became, with wings from the spares box, coming from a Twin Otter
(I still have a fuselage to deal with ...  ;D)

You continue to impress me with that most challenging of colors, the Dreaded Yellow.

I can only tip my hat to the outstanding result you achieve! What kind of paint did you use and do you have any additional tips or suggestions?

Well done and a very nice compliment to my Sunday morning coffee!

thanks!

the yellow is humbrol enamel 69 applied with a simple brush : I am not always as lucky as here  ;)
In this particular case the plastic of both Boccanneer and Twin Otter, Revell reboxings of Matchbox, were light grey, which is the best for yellow. A too clear or white background shows brushstrokes, and dark backgrounds look through ...
Maybe the ultimate tip is to have a light grey primer?

Many thanks for sharing your secrets to the Dreaded Yellow, ericr!

Unfortunately, I use acrylics, so I may stay challenged. My own research shows that a light gray primer (model masters) works better than either tan or white. One day I should see how sand (lighter than tan) works. I've taken to pouring off a fair bit of excess carrier which seems to help, but I'm not so sure how this info will translate over into the very different world of Enamels.

Gratefully,

I found this cheap Williams Renault and thought something could come out of it :
I improved it by fitting wings from a F-5 (ok, not very long ...)

Great outside-the-box thinking!

Should have been a Red Bull F1 rather than a Williams car, 'cause...

I think this one may be my favorite of yours yet, eric!

A flying fire truck is truly inspired and that's one clean, smooth build!

Me, too!  It actually looks like a "practical" flying car. Reminds me of the Ford Pinto with Cessna Sky aster wings and rear engine. The AVE Mizar seen here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVE_Mizar

thank you all very much !

It did indeed fit very nicely, and the 1/43 4L was a die-cast with nice details which I was happy to keep, and its red fit very well with my usual Humbrol 019 gloss enamel red  ;)

thanks for the reference to the Ford/Cessna hybrid : I had seen some pictures of it, and it sure is an influence to me
