Hello!
Few years ago I had build one of the few versions of PZL-230 and I think time has come for another :) I mean this one:
(I borrowed photo above from topic about Skorpion-I hope it's allowed)
I'm going to bash Mastercraft F-16, Monogram A-10 and Italeri F-22. And of course a lot of putty and styrene sheets:)
I had a plan to use whole front section of F-22 as a Skorpion fuselage but F-22 proved to be too big so I got back to F-16 and began a surgery. Despite of low supply of styrene, I managed to make basic shapes of wings and canards. As a tailplanes, I' ll use horizontal stabilizers from F-22. Photo below:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5157_zpsbf2b486b.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5157_zpsbf2b486b.jpg.html)
I've cut away more plastic than I thought I will.
Suddenly, when my Skorpion was finally taking shape. I just wondered if wings aren't too small. I hit upon an idea- why not try to fit and reshape F-16 wings. On the photos Skorpion with first version wings and another shot with F-16 wings. Which version is better? Now I'm trying to fit engines....Ehh

Watching this one very closely! You should make a master from it and sell some resin copies…hint, hint!

:D I heard that mock-up of Skorpion was offered on auction (pice was very low as for 1:1 model). I have a plan to visit Military Technical Academy in Warsaw and ask if they're still want to sell it :)
-
Wow that's hot! From the very cool mods (which blend in seamlessly) to that amazing camo this is some mind-boggling modeling!

jaw dropping wow!

Hello!
I've decided to go with reshaped F-16 wings. I've made original , styrene wings too small so now I have more work...Anyway, engines are temporarily fitted so I could adjust elevation and shape of tailplanes.

Thanks for all kind words , guys:)
I've managed to make a caisson (almost) like on original model. Amount of filler is visible:)
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5325_zps492e9936.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5325_zps492e9936.jpg.html)
PS:
I would like to rename this topic cause I'd like to start a long-term project similar to well-known and loved "Taiidan" topic :)
So now "PZL-230 Skorpion 1:48 - final version WIP" becames simply "Polish whiffs". Next models in project: A-10, F-35B , F-35C when it'll be available and C-27 as a gunship :) And many more , I hope :)

That sounds like a great idea, and that is a lineup I can't wait to see completed :)

that is coming along really nicely

Adding those nice, big engines on the back was truly inspired! Love the look of 'em!

Thanks guys:)
Because Skorpion is waiting for Miliput and Mr. White putty (stillno answer from hobby store grrrr >:( ) I've decided to go with A-10. Not much today:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5338_zps74d0943b.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5338_zps74d0943b.jpg.html)
Although I really like new Italeri models , their cocpits are always as simple as it hurts:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5339_zpsdc5c38fd.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5339_zpsdc5c38fd.jpg.html)
I've recently bought an Verlinden set for Monogram A-10 and I love it :) I'll try to drop it into Italeri model:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5340_zps6084637f.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5340_zps6084637f.jpg.html)
-
That's a very nice resin detail-up set, there! Hope it fits without any trouble! :D
-
Better keep the canopy open to display those gems.

First round of Putty-Fu Challenge. I think the game is draw:

Another day of fighting with putty. Still puttying/sanding upper side:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5373_zps490b9566.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5373_zps490b9566.jpg.html)
Bottom is only slight better:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5374_zps1ee6c893.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5374_zps1ee6c893.jpg.html)
There will be some problems with fit of cockpit tub because rear wall of resin tub is smaller than the one from set but I'm trying not to think about it now :) Some (still not finished)painting:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5371_zps55c56355.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5371_zps55c56355.jpg.html)

Decals are here so it's close to unpack F-35B :)

That seat looks great!
I think you are actually doing a really good job with the putty :), my putty projects don't look that well thought out and under control

I'm absolutely thrilled by your decal choice for this one, Artoor!
The Kosciuszko Squadron is is one of those great stories I wish was more widely-known and I'm looking forward to seeing your magnificent model in these markings!

I have a plan to buy all three F-35's and use all three versions of the decals. I regret that I bought low-vis version of decals but I hope it'll be possible to find high-vis soon.
Anyway...fight goes on:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5393_zpsc70f798a.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5393_zpsc70f798a.jpg.html)

I was scared as h... but I've decided to use a mini saw and cut a hole for front gear well.
Surprisingly there was no problems with that:

Today , sanding was finished, HOORAY!

But also , problem appeared. I sanded to much and I have a hole in bottom part of fuselage:
(http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp258/wacek80/Skorpion/DSCN5396_zps9f300413.jpg) (http://s417.photobucket.com/user/wacek80/media/Skorpion/DSCN5396_zps9f300413.jpg.html)
I will make a pylon there or another fairing but it's bother me.

Dare I suggest . . . . . . . . . . fill it with putty & sand it smooth? ???
-
Dare I suggest . . . . . . . . . . fill it with putty & sand it smooth? ???
I would love if it would be so easy. But the thickness of plastic there is like paper. If I'll put putty there and begin to sand I will have a hole somewhere near :(
-
All you can do is cut back to thicker plastic and refill from there. Have you tried epoxie putty? Great for filling large holes, then use the white putty to fill any small imperfections.

I Use Apoxie Sculpt 2-part modelling compound. Awesome stuff; water-based, doesn't damage plastic, adheres well &, when cured, has similar properties to styrene. :)

Well , I can't because there is nothing under this plastic. As a basic putty I'm using Novol automotive finishing putty. Now I have Miliput , unfortunately it's too late.
Anyway , Skorpion is almost ready for some paint:

Sweet! :)
What the Greg said! :) :)

Both builds are awesome. I would not want to be anywhere near the Skorpion when it shows up. It would be a Maverick massacre.

Thanks guys :)
Top of the SR-75 is painted. Kinda boring now but it's not over yet :)

So...because of Ukraine crysis polish governement decided to modernise army as fast as it's possible. Transport/SAR helicopter is chosen, now there is a program for buying missile sets, submarines and new attack choppers (we're still using Mi-24, they're good but not as good as they should be). We'll (I mean, our governement) chose one from three competitors which are : AH-64 Guardian (bleeeeh!), A-129 MAngusta/T-129 ATAK (cheapest one) and Eurocopter Tiger (sexy thing :) )
Of course, I had chosen mine which is ... Tiger :D So another part of this long term project:

Perhaps buy some now surplus OH-58Ds as scouts for them? Buy early and get some low-time ones. If you can afford it, Bell does have some nice upgrades that never went beyond experimental phase since the program was cancelled.

Good idea :) Why not OH-58 AVX :)

Nice idea, but if you're trying to keep costs down and hold a fast schedule, that requires and all-new gearbox which is going to be a right challenge on both cost and schedule; better to go with one of Bell's OH-58F proposals if you want an upgrade, and fairly quickly and minimally expensive.

Hello,
There is so warm in Poland now. 35oC and no wind. Therefore there were some problems with modelling mojo flow, in addition I don't have AC in my flat :( Finally , today there was a storm near Cracow and it's somehow cooler at the moment. So, I had an opportunity to paint Tiger.

I've just made an order for polish decals for MI-24. I'm sure that they'll fit :)

Well, It's done :)

There were some problems but I'm smiling while looking at it so primary target was achieved :)
I was afraid to fit (puttying, sanding etc) cockpit doors so there is gap. Hellfires and Spingers are from old AH-1Z, cannon is scratchbuild. Rotor cap is part from 1/32 EC-135.
Hope you'll like it :)

Like it? Heck I'd go so far as to say I love it!
Really nice work, I'm smiling looking at it as well. What paint colors did you use on her?

Ooooh, now that is gorgeous! :-*

Love the Tiger! :) :)

Indeed! That gray Tiger looks fantastic!

Tiger looks great, its a nice looking machine anyway but your all grey iteration is outstanding. The only possible issue is the first line of your back story "because of Ukraine crysis polish governement decided to modernise army as fast as it's possible", in particular the last five words. Acquiring the Tiger is one thing, getting it to IOC let alone FOC is another challenge altogether and there is nothing fast about it, you want fast go Apache or Viper through FMS ;)
-
I believe you're right :) But I hope our governement won't decide to buy AH-64 or Viper :)
-
*chuckle* As a Bell employee, I'd rather hope they buy the Viper. ;)

So are you offering your modelling services (or at least images thereof) to Airbus:
Tiger HAD Helicopter: First In-Flight Presentation In Warsaw
(Source: Airbus Helicopters; issued Aug 27, 2015)
WARSAW, Poland --- Airbus Helicopters has announced that the Tiger will give its first dynamic presentation in Poland, a week before being displayed for the second time at the 23rd edition of MSPO in Kielce.
The combat helicopter that will perform the flight demonstration is a Tiger HAD from the French Army. It is a modern, combat-proven, high-tech helicopter with the first all-composite structure, one of the latest glass cockpits and a full range of armament allowing it to successfully fulfill multiple missions such as attack, escort, ground fire support, armed reconnaissance and combat.
With its flat and narrow silhouette the Tiger HAD's advantages include low detectability, low vulnerability, high survivability, high agility and maneuverability making it the attack helicopter best adapted to both symmetric and asymmetric battlefields with unique capabilities whether for air-to-ground or air-to-air combat.
It is equipped with an extremely accurate 30mm turret cannon and a range of wing-mounted missiles and rockets together with a highly efficient electronic warfare system giving it unrivaled versatility.
Tiger HAD is navalised and can be fully operated at sea.
The Tiger is a key asset in any deployment whether for direct combat or escort missions. It can be deployed anywhere thanks to its robustness and simplicity of use. The Tiger lives up to its commitments in theaters of operations – it is easy to maintain, does not require heavy infrastructure and has a good level of availability.
Since July 2009, Tigers have been deployed continuously by the French Army in different areas, such as Afghanistan, Libya and Sahel. While deployments in Afghanistan and Libya have come to an end, Tigers are still supporting missions in Sahel, where, despite the hostile operating conditions, the Tiger has shown a very high level of availability and logged more than 2,050 flight hours since the start of deployment in January 2013.
These recent theatres of operations have demonstrated that the Tiger has the lowest maintenance needs of its class and that when operated with a Caracal they form the most lethal duet.
To date, Airbus Helicopters has delivered more than 120 Tiger helicopters to France, Germany, Spain and Australia and the aircraft has accumulated more than 68,000 flying hours.
Airbus Helicopters is a division of Airbus Group. The company provides the most efficient civil and military helicopter solutions to its customers who serve, protect, save lives and safely carry passengers in highly demanding environments. Flying more than 3 million flight hours per year, the company's in-service fleet includes some 12,000 helicopters operated by more than 3,000 customers in 152 countries. Airbus Helicopters employs more than 23,000 people worldwide and in 2014 generated revenues of 6.5 billion Euros.
In line with the company's new identity, fully integrated into Airbus Group, Airbus Helicopters has renamed its product range replacing the former "EC" designation with an "H".

Why not? ;-)
Anyway, next three models in topic are AH-64, maybe RAH-66 and Ka-50.
Do them all in polish markings? I'm not so sure. While I decided to make Apache as a polish chopper (it's another contestant in RAVEN programme), then I'm not so certain about the rest. Comanche could be done as a special forces attack helo. More possible option is serial production attack chopper for US Marines. What to do with Hokum? I'd love to see it in polish markings (with red stars covered with paint and polish checkerboards on them, kind of captures one) but I can't decide.Any help guys? :)

How about Egyptian...to go along side their Ka-52Ks (http://tass.ru/en/defense/823140) (thus giving a subtle whiff)

Late to the party, but man that helo is just amazing!
It looks every bit ready to leap off the screen skyward on another mission!
A real tour-d'force, Artoor!

Any thoughts regarding load-out yet? Some big Soviet missiles should look awesome.

Well, after a year and a half A-10C is finished. I've used Verlinden cockpit, Techmod checkerboards and Master GAU-8 and Pitot's tube. Weathering is done with Tamyia panel liners, pigments and Vallejo Oxido pigment.

For that you really need a F-15 in Polish markings to go along with it, since the pilot of one was one of the featured warriors in Cauldron.

New year, new long-term plans :)
As a attachment there is a drawing made by one of my friends. When I saw it I decided that I have to build it. This is heavy attack VTOL dropship. This will be long and tough task but I need good kitbash to get modelling mojo flow again ;) wish me luck :D
-
Artoor, that Gripen is just great! Sorry I didnt see it earlier.
No worries about your mojo, if you can do that at half throttle then what you will do when it flows will be awesome :)
The dropship I am looking forward to greatly.

That... looks awesome. I'm getting the vibe that it's a F-105 modded with over-under intake and has two sawn-off rear fuselages of EE Lightnings as liftjets. Though I'm most likely wrong. But whatever it is, it can only be more awesome in kit form.

Not at all , we had to get a loan but we were lucky to make a fast decision and get a flat with special price :)
I know it's a model for "Land" section but this is only a presentation, not a beginning of WIP.I've traden my M1117 for Merkava IV and I have another stupid idea :)
I have an idea to make a production version of this:

...out of this:

Well, I'll be waiting for it to appear in the "Land" section! 8)

Some time ago I've decided to make models of all helicopters from the "Crow" program. Here is AH-64 Apache.
Set is Academy, scale 1/48. I'll never buy Academykit again. An extremely vague instruction, tragic decals, form marks everywhere. Fit is not better. I'd be better buying a Italeri set. Polish markings, of course. Painting is Mr. Hobby and Tamiya. Weathering was dome using AK and Tamiya fluids.

Whatever challenges you faced with this kit certainly aren't evident in the finished model, Artoor.
It looks every bit the winner and your weathering is very well done. I especially like your rendering of that gray scheme!
Great stuff!

Nice work. :)

I like it too and you've managed to hide the imperfections of this kit very well!
Great job :)
