I haven't been here in ages. Nothing new in quite a long long while.

Well, who doesn't like to refight WW2 with modern ideas?

I took a German WW2 armored scoutcar and turned it into a 8 wheel APC platform. When I was taking measurements using a 2m man, I discovered it was too small for my purposes. I had to double the volume.

The versions I've done are a standard APC armed with a 50 cal M2 BMG and a 30 cal.
Next is the same armament but in a turret.
Then with a M8 greyhound turret that has a 37mm gun and 30 cal.
Next to that I used a M22 locust turret, virtually the same thing as before but I added 4 bazooka tubes. Yes, that's right. I made a WW2 LAV. To reload the bazookas under fire I put in a roof hatch.
Next is a Fire Support version with a M8 Scot turret. It ahs a short barreled 75mm howitzer.
Last in the line is a 75mm Ant-Tank cannon version.

I did not make a artillery version or MLRS. The arty would screw up the shocks. I have other plans for both.

I felt I needed to show the size difference with my APC and it's progenitor. I kept the shape but doubled the internal size and stretched out the back. I added the BTR-80 to show a modern comparison for scale.

Very well thought out and great details on all of the versions you have created.

a walkaround. It's still simple, but I made it so people can fit inside. Room for 4 men on the bench with zero headroom.

This is very cool. What are the actual size differences between your concept ('Mannschaftstransportwagen 8 Rad'?) and the historical Sd.Kfz.231 or '232 Schwerer Panzerspähwagen?

I'm wondering about a styrene scale-o-rama. For example, if one started with the old, 1/32 Monogram/Revell Sd.Kfz.232 kit (#85-7856) and re-scaled for 1/35. That would take you from a RW length of 5.9 m to just over 6.45 m. Not a big difference ... but enough to go from Schwerer Panzerspähwagen to MTW?

My measurements are for the Original 6.739m x 2.91m 2.268m   LWH
My update is 8.657m x 3.058m x 3.458m

according to my program.

Another idea. A cross between a M3 and a Ba10 armored car.

This has a stretched engine compartment. Larger wheels to go along with the 8 wheel APC I made. M8 GMC Scott turret but I used a Hellcat's 76mm instead of the short howitzer. This is a cavalry escort and tank hunter for the wheeled formations.

I also tried to build a VF-1 Valkyrie using real world plane parts. A true kitbash. I think a brilliant move was using a F-111 nose, but squished in half so it's a single seater instead of tandem.

This one is crazy.

This one was a brainstorm for a while for me. I spent most of 2 days working on it.

It's a mixture of a De Havilland Dragon Rapide small airliner body, two P-40 engines, E-2 Hawkeye tail and a Kamov style dual rotor setup with a pusher prop.

This goes with my other WW2 reimagined hardware. As for size, the cabin same width as a UH-1 Huey, but looks much beefier. I wanted to make a troop carrying helicopter for WW2 but all the contemporary designs were very flimsy and primitive. Sikorski's stuff barely got off the ground. Jet engines are too far off technologically so they can't be turboshaft engines, instead I'm using piston engines readily available. Normally it's a radial engine in helos but I chose instead to use the Allison in-line engine from the P-40 Warhawk. The arrangement is similar to the CH-37 Mojave transport helicopter. The Mojave was a massive 1950s helicopter that used two huge outboard pods to house the twin Wasp radial engines to power the rotor blades. I chose to use an inline design and each engine powers one rotor. 1200 hp per rotor is a lot of lifting power. Early helicopter prototypes in 1943 used 185 hp engine. The dual rotor Kamov style design negates the use of a tail rotor for rotation and to counteract the yaw from the main rotor blades. The pusher in the back makes it look like today's Sikorski Defiant attack helicopter prototype. The propellers for the two engines were removed and I replaced them with radiators.

The Landing gear is fixed. I'm not smart enough to design a housing to for them to be retractable, yet.

Maybe next I'll make a H-5 gunship.

Can you do a version without the black background for easier visibility?

I really like this.  Its stubby appearance reminds me a little of the AVX Future Vertical Lift contender.
