The Centauri fleet also had some cool ships, particularly the Primus and Vorchan class:

Monogram made a kit of the B5 station as well as the Starfury.

BTW, JMS did a short story after the show ended that had Ivanova, while captain of one of the Earthforce ships incorporating Shadow technology, taking Kosh's ship onboard and integrating it so that the Shadow tech could never get out of control. That would be an interesting beastie.

I would definitely recommend watching it, but you really have to watch it in order from the pilot episode. It was more of a novel in television format than a series. The entire five year story arc was written and complete before anything was ever filmed so very little of it flounders and leaves you wondering if the writers were running out of ideas.

Post by: Weaver on February 06, 2013, 08:25:29 PM: The only problem was that they were told half way through season 4 that the network wern't picking up season 5, so they scrambled to re-write the scripts to get some kind of resolution at the end of season 4, then after soem of them had been broadcast, the network decided to pick up season 5 after all...... >:( Wouldn't have mattered with a normal series, but with JMZ's tightly choreographed plotlines, it was left feeling a bit rushed near the end, then stretched out a bit right at the very end.

Still very much worth watching though. :)

Also worth watching are the outtake and blooper reels on you tube: Peter Jurassik (Londo) could have done stand up.... ;D

Post by: Frank3k on February 07, 2013, 01:14:36 AM: I rewatched Babylon 5 with my wife, who missed it when it was on TV. For the most part, Babylon 5 has held up well. The CGI looks dated at times and while JMS's dialog can be very good, it's often so bad that it's hard not to cringe.

The last season was very mixed and the telepath storyline (with Byron) was infuriatingly bad. JMS wanted the viewer to root for the freaks, but I just wanted to see them rounded up and sent out the nearest airlock, so we could get on with the rest of the story. The worst episode (for me) was "A View From the Gallery", although the first season episode "infection" comes close.

The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5 (http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/lurker.html) covers all the episodes, movies and spinoff series. It's very useful while watching the series.

Londo and G'Kar probably have the best relationship arc and seeing their characters evolve is one of the best parts of the show.

I didn't care for that much either, however it is interesting when you consider that Babylon coincided with a rise of the internet, this episode feels like it was made with the internet fan questions in mind and told from the perspective of an "outsider" once upon a time the internet was a new and wondrous thing.

It's based on Steve Burg's original concept art IIRC. What's interesting is just how anime Burg's sketch is - bunny ears and thrusters in every direction!
