1/32 Revell F-16C

How it looked in June 2011 going for an F-35 look.

How it looks now. I am going for a MiG-23 look (Fell in love with the Flogger again)  :-\

Note new Dog Teeth and narrowed tail.

1/48 Foxbat Fin scratchbuilt base. Wrapped thin styrene around a bottle to create an exhaust tube for the engine. Not the piece of spine I am going to replace after I realized the F-16I like spine wouldn't work. (You can see it glue back on in the lower pics) Sometimes you just have a little too much Razor Saw Fun!  :icon_crap:

Scratchbuilt Horizontal Stabs traced onto styrene using the 1/32 Flogger's as a guide.

Spare sprue and Googley eyes added to make it look more like a K-36 seat... Right now it looks like an Ejection seat mascot of some sort!!  ;)

Mock up, Note the styrene strips added to the F-110  O0 Parapack is a cut down Sparrow Missile

Exhaust Ring (?) I forget what they are called  ;D

Tail Mock up

working on this for the Hanger Queen GB, Because I have a lot of Hanger queens but this one is the worst by far.  :icon_swat:

Neat idea! It almost looks like some recent fighter lightweight developments from both the PRC and Taiwan - the Chungkou designs.

But yours has a more advanced look to it, even though borrowing older tech!

Thanks for the Comments!

This is going to be a three foot model. But I plan on doing a few things to make it look a tad better:

1. It has no cockpit, so a nice pilot Figure will help distract from that

2. I don't want to rescribe the entire model so I am going to keep that to a minimum and add surface detail instead. small scoops and plates and what not.

3. An excellent paint scheme. Still have decided what yet, but I know it has to be good.

Very nice so far, looks like a F-16 and a MiG-23 shared a wild weekend somewhere with this as the resulting "progeny".  Just a thought, how about re-doing the inlet along the lines of the Ye-8's inlet?  Alternatively, a swept 2-D inlet with the forward-most edge on the bottom, allowing the variable ramp to be in a more accessible location on the finished aircraft (I've worked that area of the F-16, you don't want to try fitting ramp actuators in with the ammo drum and feed for the M61 - besides, this way everything moveable is in the same subsection of the aircraft).

That is a great suggestion, and under any normal circumstances I would take it. But this is a model I bought in 1995, and started working on in 2004. I entered it into the Hanger Queen II GB on Aeroscale because although I do have other models that are closer to completion, 8 years is the worst and oldest queen I have. In 8 years this thing has been An Isreali F-16C, Israeli F-16A, Space Fighter, Aggressor, WWII plane, Soviet like F-35 and finally a Soviet like Mig-23. Lost the intake, and had to borrow one from the academy kit. Ripped out the cockpit at one point to redo it. lost the landing gear, intake lip, canopy (twice and once for good) Its been in development hell. I even worry now that if I don't keep working on it, I will lose focus have a change of mind and begin the whole process again  :-\

Hope to get more pics posted today. I really want to make progress on this after work today.

That... I was going to call it something witty and creative, but I'm at a loss! That F-16/MiG-23 fusion is looking very promising!

LOL is that good thing?  ;)

I was originally planning to put this on the Armorama What If GB but it fell well behind schedule, and I didn't even post a single pic!  :-\ I love the T-80 and T-64 and the Abrams of course so this is a natural for me. My backstory is that a frustrated Soviet tank designer looks at the new American Abrams and the old T-34 and realizes that the Russians have moved too far away from their roots of sloped armor. So a with a little copying (borrowing ;)) Of the Abrams style with soviet design results in the T-83:

this is supposed to represent an early version of the T-83, with new Kontakt 5 Reactive armor and side skirts retrofitted. The majority of Russian pieces are from a DML T-80U kit I got when I was 11(!) and has been scrapped along with removing the paint for spares. T-64 road wheels, sanded and adjusted to fit the abrams hull (All 28 of them  :banghead: ) T-64 Kontakt 5 from SP Designs. There are some Challenger and T-72 pieces there as well too.
Still a lot of work to do, but maybe I can be inspired to return to it.

Very nice, reminds me of the Krasnovian Variant Tank (KVT).  You really should change the gun to something Soviet like the 125mm.

As always I am in the "Too Many Models, Too Little Time phase" But I am making progress on things!

Added Airbrakes/scoops Glued in the Stabs and Fin base with Epoxy. Got the Engine Tube in there too. I was actaully smart for once and I am keeping the nice metallic exhaust seperate until after I have painted the camo. Still have surface detail to add but good progress!

I cracked the canopy about a month ago which brought construction to a screeching and disappointing halt. Luckily Don G on ARC was nice enough to send me a replacement FREE! But what to do with the  cracked canopy?

Looks like the cockpit is a bit cramped with the crew sitting side by side as you have in the images.  Maybe better to stagger them just a little with the pilot further forward and the WSO/Nav set back a bit with an extension on the instrument panel to support the new location.  Or you could lower the WSO/Nav a little as was done in the A-6 Intruder.
