The RAF impressed four Bf 108s on the outbreak of World War II and put into service, who designated them "Messerschmitt Aldon". It was the fastest light communications aircraft the RAF had then, but they were often mistaken for Bf 109s. Postwar, 15 more captured Bf 108s flew in RAF colours.

I understand that the US Air Attache in pre-war Berlin owned one in US markings.  Interesting whiff would be for some US company to license build it in the USA with a suitable Ranger or Menasco engine.  I could see them being impressed for liaison duties when the USA entered WW II, with the potential for interesting markings that would provide.

North American, with it passed on to Ryan (perhaps Spartan), after Pearl Harbor?

Some ideas:

  • A floatplane version?
  • One with snow skis
  • A carrier based version (see image below for some inspiration)
